Good question! Parenthetically, to the best of my limited knowledge, the only time I have ever seen a player injured is when he is fouled...

Your observation is a good one. My understanding is that every time a player is fouled when taking a shot, he has a chance to get an injury. Then the engine calculates how long the injury is. That length of time is then immediately reduced, depending on the level of your doctor (a higher level doctor gives more of a reduction). If the injury is reduced enough, it may be like he was never injured at all.

The thing I really do not like about this system is that shooting fouls are much more likely to occur off of missed shots. It is very rare to see a foul after a shot is made in BB. So the key to avoiding injuries is to have your players make their shots... Or just take fewer shots in general.

By the way, I've noticed lately that there are some 2pt/3pt and foul (+1 FT). I never saw that before season 10.
It is just that I never paid attention or it is really the first season that this happen

I think I saw an injury without a foul back in Season 6 or 7 if I'm not mistaken. Old engine of course. Overall I agree that shooting foul or/and technical foul usually occurs when injury takes place.

previous seasons i didnt have anything like this, even my roster is little changed.

But anybody has any clue about a relationship between team effort /defense strategy and players injured?

There is none that I know of.

The only thing that may affect, indirectly, the injuy rate is the hidden physicality rating, since it affects how much a player fouls or gets fouled.

I think foul prone players injure other players more often than others. Or some of players are 'secretly' more agressive than others. So they may be one of the reasons. This guy (4529131) has injured more than 5 players this season.
