First of all, is this an old player? Skills can start decreasing for old players, so that would be your culprit there.

Otherwise, it depends on what you mean by 'considerably.' If you're talking 20-25%, then something's really weird. If you're talking 5-10%, then you could be right, or the salary calculators could have a systematic error based around a certain configuration of stats and position. Do we even know that the game's salary mechanism used sublevels?

Yes we do.

I want what all men want...I just want it more.

i will give some specifics, which will enable this possible prize to be found on the TL. i make this sacrifice in the interest of science . . .

18 years old

listed salary around 6600 dollars

according to Joseph Ka's calculator, this player's current skillset results in an annual salary of slightly more than 5800 dollars.

according to the one accessed through Rapidshare, the estimated salary is slightly less than 5800 dollars. (My download version has a small flaw reading stamina and free throws as atrocious regardless of the player, but from what i understand these skills play a minimal role in salary.)

18 years old.

Sounds like a nice player who should be popping for you very soon.

I've been scrounging around the Transfer List. Part of my research is to factor in the fact that a lot of training has been done with some players that are not yet accounted for in salary, so I run the current abilities through the two salary calculators that are available to us. I understand the calculators are estimates, but still . . . I have found one player whose listed salary -- the one he began the season with, and presumably does not reflect any training he may have received this season -- is considerably above that of the estimate given by either salary calculator.

What am I to make of this? The player has many skill categories that are just beneath the threshold of being bumped? I don't know what else could explain this. If this is true, then the player is quite a catch, it seems to me.

Yes, you are right about that. That player has received training without popping but his sub levels have gone up, so his salary goes up at the beginning of the season, without any visible change to his skills at all.

Eg.
You have player with all Respectable (7) skills. Now using Josef Ka's salary calculator his salary is projected at $8250, but his real salary could be higher or lower based on the sublevels of those skills.
The salary calculates the skills in the middle of the levels. For example, if there were 10 sublevels, it calculates them at 5.

Hope i helped ;)
Thanks,
