It depends on how long it takes to get him up to strong. To do that you'll have to play him out of position and it may hurt your team, so you'll have to manage that as well. Driving may be easier to train if you train forwards. As for jump range, it depends. If you want him to play PF then it might be useful, if he's just going to play C then he's not likely to be too far away from the basket :P
