There are far too many situations that could arise.
Could you explain more why exactly you would want to sub in a different player towards the end that wasn't already playing?

If you needed a great shooter but they were only good at that you could bring them in at the end to get you a basket they could

So they are a great shooter but bad defender and you want to bring them in at the end?
Perhaps...would make things too complicated I think. I think you should trust that the coach will do what is best for the team.

I like the general idea, maybe 3 point specialists for if you're down by 3 or defensive and FT specialists if you're winning?

Thats not always the situation. Ive been in the closest of games and for some reason my star player is on the bench watching the waterboy of my team take the gamewinner. Thats why I ask the system, why is he on the bench?

To an extent, the AI coach already does this at the end of games for several concepts, including 3 point shooting, free throws, etc.

A CT? Really?
Any two will do
Any three for me
Any four will score
Any five are live

I dont think that would be really so interresting. I kind of like that coach makes his own decisions, while it is indeed like that you cant say to him a word and always adapt...

However would be interresting if we could do a starting roster and substitution switches during the game. This works somehow even now, if you let the roster for the coach empty, he is changing position of every player, so your point guard can play during the game everywhere.

The system could be based on the time, on the general result or on the individual results. So you can switch your shooting guard to the SF position when you are losing the game, playing RaG, so you will put another shooting guard to the game etc.
