Yeah the Allstar week has so much potential but is so poorly executed.

It rewards minutes in the 1 position far to much. Any player that is required to play somewhere else for training has no hope...

I think if the Great 8 can get anywhere within 40 points they've done well this year.

The rosters - at least for the Great 8 - are fairly disgusting. How Couto Costa doesn't get a run is beyond me. At least Dos Santos got in there. Hopefully he can hold his own against Borrel before Radford comes on and completely fingers us!

I'm not sure whether I'd say Couto being out is disgusting:

Cima has 25 points on 47% shooting, with 4.3 boards, 2.7 assists and 1.2 steals
Nemkovic has 26 points on 40% shooting, with 2.4 boards, 3.3 assists, 2.9 steals
Couto has 27 points on 39% shooting with 3.7 boards, 4.4 assists and 1.6 steals

I probably would have put him at backup, behind Cima, but its fairly close. Couto is a great player, but stats wise, he hasn't had his best season, and that's what ASG selection goes on...

The only real head scratcher for me is Barrett Meads at starting SF. Apologies to Lara's Giants, but I just can't figure out that one - ahead of guys like Bettela and Air. Ogenov ahead of Areas and Doyle is a little puzzling to.

As far as I can see in the Big 8, the selections were pretty much bang on.

Minutes at a certain position count for a hell of a lot too i think. Air has had time at SG so that takes away from his SF voting and Areas has had time at C and missed some league games for the Cup for example.

I guess what eludes me is how a player of Couto's caliber and thus salary gets out performed by those guys.it's 30k wages vs 130k. Also i'm guessing D has very little effect on All-Star selection although in fairness that's the same in the NBA!

coach-n, you mention that you think D has little effect on selection.. Can i ask what you think a satisfactory defence rating is?

It's more about the fact that elite D doesn't help too much. I know Bergman (not that i think he's AS worthy) and C-Costa have lvl 17 D or higher and that helps them limit opponents pretty well but i think that doesn't do much to help selection. It's more about what you score/assist etc as opposed to what you stop opponents from doing.

As for what sort of D i like....the more there merrier. Tremendous is acceptable for starters on my team but i'm hoping that i can get all my starters to Marvelous or higher at some point in the next 5 seasons......big dreams i know!
