What about trading draft picks?
For example, trade 1st round pick + 200k for a higher first round pick.

Not that I think it will happen, but what if was set up that a trade had to meet certain criteria?
1 A maximum of 3 players per team can be involved.
2 The total salary of each team must be within 2k of the other.
3 The players skills and potential must be within 1 point of the others.
- if a team is trying to trade 3 players for one, the average of those players must equal the overall average of the player they are trading for. (I.e) if team a wants to trade 3 8k players for one 24k player they couldn't. The skill points of a 8k player will be somewhere between 70-80. A 24k player will be 100+ so it wouldn't meet the criteria.
4 The trade would have to go through an approval committee. This could be made up of GMs. NT coaches etc. 70% must approve.

With this criteria it would be impossible to cheat. It would be more for getting rid of your backup pg for a much needed c. Or getting rid of your over paid pf bc he pissed you off and blew your last 3 games.

with this rule it hardly possible to trade different positions or skill set in a fair way. But it makes a lot of work for the gm, why not using money as a trading pool. You sell one player and then choose out of thousands of players for the right replacement.

You will when you sell your players first. Then use the money to buy the new player you want
