Yes, I was really tinkering with that idea. Although I was also thinking about a slow tactic because I have a solid offensive flow, but I didn't try it yet against a strong team so that woud be an experiment...

If you're 100% sure that he's going to play motion then I think you need to pick a defense that matches up against that. He's handing you an advantage this way. Plus you've said that his strength is on the perimeter. I agree that 1-3-1 is terrible for rebounding so I'd go with 3-2.
