He's likely capped. To be sure, you ought to try the "salary estimation" tool on buzzer manager (http://www.buzzer-manager.com/) that will show how much of your player's potential has been filled out.

Do perenial allstars normally cap around 50k salary? I just bought myself two to train and it seems low to me.

Just chekced it out on the faq above:
How does potential work?
Potential acts as a cap on training. Different potential levels cap out at different skill levels. So an MVP can be trained longer than an Allstar potential player. There is a rough salary estimate corresponding to the cap for each potential level. Once the skill set of a player reaches a particular point (The soft cap) that is equal to the potential level of the player, training really slows down and it becomes ineffective to train the player anymore.

0 Announcer: < 6k
1 Bench warmer: < 8k
2 Role player: < 13k
3 6th man: 15-18k
4 Starter: 20-30k
5 Star: 35-50k
6 AllStar: 60-80k
7 Perennial allstar: 95-140k
8 Superstar: 140-220k
9 MVP: 215-315k
10 Hall of famer: 500k+
11 All time great: 1M+

The above is a rough estimate of potentials and where they cap at. Note that centers are generally capable of attaining a higher salary than guards.

Anyone has new info on this or simply disagrees?

The cap is based on skills, not salary. The easiest way to check is to go to (http://www.buzzer-manager.com) and select your preferred language, log in with your username and your BB access key (not password!), and then choose the "Tools" menu and choose salary estimator. Choose your player and it'll tell you approximately how much of their potential they have reached.

Thanks to both! There are still some other issues in this for me though.

Okay, the faq is out of date. And i'm aware caps are based on skill rather than salary. And I'm also aware different sets of skills may lead to different salaries, but 55k still seems pretty low (bare in mind this cap was reached two months ago, probably before salaries were updated, so it cant be argued that he could have caped during season).

I'm not going at this as a protest or as a specific case study, I'm just trying to get a better notion of what I can expect from the two perenials i just bought. Is 55k weird for you guys as well or this pretty much what i can expect?

Another thing I'm curious is this: I'm unsure if i read this somewhere else or if i simply made it up, but is it true that a caped player, lets say a C, could train other skills such as jump shot and still have some success? Skills that are not important to his specific position.

One other thing: from what i read as well, caps don't make it impossible for you to ever train those top skills again, it just makes the training speed way slower. By that should i understand more than two months for a pop or is it usually not that slow? Anyone with experience training capped players?

Thanks again and in advance

If you train a monoskilled big man, he can reach 100k(16416234).

Although to make the most of the potential it is better to build a balanced player who will then cap much much earlier.

Have you given him the same training each week for the last couple months?
i would imagine you could get to about 70k from my own experience (but there is no science/collective evidence behind this!). so try out the programme someone suggested above as a guide.
I also tentatively hypothesise that it is possible to have "sub levels" of potential -either that or it is something to do with the combination of skill mixes / skill sums that may get you there sooner.

i have a 25 year old big man who i had trained outside for about 5 or 6 weeks with no success, thinking he had capped (PA salary 70k), but then i got a side pop then the pop i wanted after this week.

some big skills (like rebounding) will add a fair bit of salary on per pop, so depending on the skills set of your player and what skill you are trying to pop, you might only get 1 or 2 more before reaching his cap (assuming he's not there already).

however if you train his outside skills, this probably wont add much if anything to his salary (depending on his skillset now) and so you would get more pops. But bear in mind he is over 2m tall so training his outside skills will be a little slower anyway.
