Another advantage of 4th place is that you get a 3 game week for training by having the quarterfinal game.

Disadvantages
You have to pay your players salary for that week.
If you only play 1 game, you will only get 1/3 of the Revenue from the Gate receipts.


Does it really matter that much in Div. IV or V? The salary is much higher in higher divisions so there is a big difference but, even relatively, will you lose that much by taking 4th as opposed to 5th? (I really don't know.)

Well in my division. Here are my averages.

League Averages from Last Week
Expenses Revenue
Player Salaries: $ 114 361 Attendance: $ 102 382
Staff Salaries: $ 50 004 Merchandise: $ 23 002
Scouting: $ 6 250 TV Contract: $ 70 434
Total: $ 170 615 Total: $ 195 818
League Average Net Income: $ 25 203


So if you have to pay the average salary, 114K, and you only get 34K more for playing 1 league game. Then yeah your losing about 80K.

Of course, each league and situation is different.
