Yes its great when you blank it, and play inside offenses, I've heard its a disaster for outside offenses.
Your problem is your team is just not strong enough, if I were you I would save up to buy a 25k or so salary big man, with around 12 in IS/ID/RB and at least 5 for SB. Then maybe save up for a nice PG with skills similar to this: JS/JR/OD/HA/DR/PA 12/8/12/11/11/11. I think if you just get those two players (will cost about 850k for both combined) and manage your GS better you can be a playoff team.
If you need more help you can BB-Mail me.

Well in his defense, CoachSK, he is in a fairly tough league, at least from the standpoint of a new team for D4. I dont know what it's like from a top notch team's perspective, because I'm not one myself.

As for bullet67, a few losses early is to be expected from a team just entering the division from below. I destroyed my league last season, but I myself was destroyed in my last game, by 50 points :I

I agree with CoachSK with what you should do to fix your problems, though
Just try to slowly but surely build yourself up, a little at a time. baby steps can get you a lot farther than you'd think. And one great player is worth a bit more on the court here than he would be in real life.

also, make sure you manage your enthusiasm well, to take any wins the schedule gives you and maybe steal a couple from some slightly better teams, or you may be looking at another detour through D5. I am real glad I didnt get stuck in that league. good luck.

hey guys. thanks for all the help here. I didn't think anyone saw this posting. I'll sure keep what you guys say in mind. Maybe I can steal one or two this season and be able to build up my cash flow to afford the kinds of players you suggest. I guess patience is the name of the game here. thanks again.

"baby steps can get you a lot farther than you'd think."

This is very true and all the advice is great info, one last piece of info is to never forget about ur arena, spend here and there and ull start bringing in way more every week, which could be enough to save for a good player, keep that in mind...

From what I'm seeing, make sure you manage your players' minutes. I can't stress how much it makes an impact on ones team, game-shape is essential to winning games. Your starting lineup and backups need to be above respectable, don't worry about the bench (also make a 12 man roster). It seems that your team suffered because of some of the Cup Games. A proficient 10k player is probably as good as a respectable 15k player... the gap widens as the pay raise goes, i.e. a 100K player with bad game-shape up to a 75K with good game-shape, 75K player will probably do better.

So letting the coach decide and leaving a blank sheet isn't a bad idea, the game is good at making matchups. On the other hand, you risk giving one player too many minutes, and another player without too little. So getting that 20k player is a good idea.. but he is a waste of money with bad game-shape.

You're are behind, but the thing is you need to fight relegation. Manage the game-shape and you should win a few games. Getting 5th is ideal in your situation... maybe even in 6th. However, you are semi-rebuilding. I say focus on surviving this season, then focus on going to the playoffs the next season.

If you absolutely have to... train game-shape sometimes. Train game-shape during the relegation or playoffs. It seems that you are training guards, so buy veteran PF/C... they will be old, but cheap. It's ok to buy a 30 year old, heck you can get a 35k Center for less than $150,000 if you are patient.

Hi. Hey thanks for the thoughtful input here. Actually, I do kind of like the 'let coach decide" option. Like you said, some guys may get more minutes at certain positions but I can monitor that throughout the week and make adjustments accordingly. I'm going to try to revamp my training, focusing on a different skill whenever I see a pop up on a previous skill. Might not be the most efficient way to go about it, but it's the best way I know of to begin serious team development so hopefully, my strategy will pay off for me after a while. Thanks again for the help and suggestions.
