Your way of thinking makes sense, but the thing is in this game, the training speeds for each skill are different, and training speeds deteriorate by %'s each year the player gets older. The reason why most people train OD the first season is because OD is one of the (if not the) slowest skill to train. Add in the deterioration from age and it makes it even slower which is why people train it first usually. Training defence in general is cheaper than training offence in terms of salary increase per skill level increase. Also JS and RB are a couple of the more salary intensive skills. (i.e. what's the point of having someone who can take shots or someone who can rebound when they can't play any defence and let the opponents score, which makes RB useless, and on top of this they have an inflated salary due to a lot of JS and RB)

Wouldn't 1 position training when they are 18 be a"double positive", then?

I think both these theories are ultimately the wrong direction. I would train the weak guard skills for a big man first and for a guard I'd train his weaker big man skills first. Especially IS and ID.
As for the 2 schools of thought that you're asking about, I guess it depends if you can give them single position training or not. If you can get your best trainee 48 minutes at PG or C then it's almost always best to train single position skills and JS and RB are not those skills. And if you plan to sell that player in a season or 2, I guarantee you that they'll have far more value with high defensive skills than high JS or RB.

The training simulator he's talking about is here:

Some freak with too much time on his hands and no idea when to stop feeding his OCD must've made it. ;) But people say it's useful.

Yeah I think your right. I always like to build the D first in my Trainees, I find if I can keep them on the floor a full 48 mins without fouling out, I get regular 3 Trainee full training weeks, hence training is sped up by efficiency.

>48* is, I think, what you meant. Cause having less than 48 and 100 at the same time is quite difficult.
