To add on to what Nico stated; it is correct that some players are more "aggressive" than others and will foul more easily. The BB's once stated (I don't remember where) that it is something like a hidden skill which is just in nature of the player.

In addition to this I'd like to add that for inside players it is important that their levels of Inside Defense and Shot Blocking are up to standard. If your inside players have low levels in these skills they will contest more shots which should not be contested (and they will be called for a foul more often). In this way you can influence it. Also, generally speaking, your players will foul more against players who are a lot better than they are (since they have difficulty defending them properly). Sometimes, games like these come down to bad luck though!

Hope it helps!

To add even more, besides your players probably fouling a lot because of the "aggressiveness" trait, your opponent can also have players that have a tendency to draw more fouls than usual (affected by the same or a similar trait). If both are true, it can lead to a lot of fouls, and a RNG factor to add to it probably too.

Mostly, my players are scrubs and trainees, so I'm not expecting a lot from them. Their stats are pretty mediocre ranging from 5-7 defensively. The only advantage I have in games like this is that I manage GS and enth better than several managers in my league. However, my guards are especially weak, and although I was still expecting them to get crushed, I was very surprised to see half my team foul out.
