Just for you:

Some people won. Some didn't.

There were some cracking games in the last round, the Tallfellas-Erks match up in particular.

Yes, two good teams that both wanted to win. Neutrals couldn't ask for more. Erkboy doesn't seem to be getting much luck in the draw the last couple of seasons.

We have a topic \o/ (I know, I'm as awful as everyone else for it not being here)

Of course the reigning champs get another bot, it's just how the world runs ;)

On his name - he's not nailed their most hateable period for me though I don't think. Lets compare most hateable player lists?
A top 10 off the top of my head: Rooney, Evra, Rio, Van Nistelrooy, Giggs, Sheringham, Keane, CRonaldo, Scholes and Darren Fletcher? Who just beats Mark Hughes for the last spot as apparently he left United in '95 and I'd barely been watching football by then, I must mostly hate him for post Man Utd reasons.

Back on topic - I was worried when I got Wlod a few rounds ago, but he ended up not playing his best team. I've had a fairly nice draw otherwise. Got Olympiakos next who iirc were my rival in my very first division 2 season. Since then they've gone down to 3 and come back up with a younger looking squad.

One EBBL tie and two top d2 sides against EBBL opposition next up. The cup seems to be thinning out quicker this season?

The 99 team rankles with me because of that lucky comeback that everyone talked about. I wasn't much concerned with the Champions League at that point, City were in what I know as Division 3 then and the Champions League might as well have been a different sport. But it did overshadow somewhat our own comeback in the play offs that year. We were 2-0 down to Gillingham and I remember how depressed I felt at another season in Division 3 playing the likes of York City. Horlock got one back and I swear I said "Typical City, score now its all over." I lost the power of speech when Dickov equalised. 10,000 City fans had left Wembley and turned around to get back in. All this of course was overshadowed by that Champions League final (rightly so of course), and its just irritated me since.

I know you said players but I can't see past the red faced Taggart. Knighted, and yet a man so scummy he throws his half masticated chewing gum on the Maine Road pitch. Keane is in a class of his own. Finished Alf-Inge Haaland's career with a disgusting assault. I can't call it a tackle. He should have gone to Strangeways for that. Contrast that with Haaland, who was once so touched at how he was treated by City fans he met at a petrol station after a 4-0 defeat that he paid for their full tank of petrol.

We'd only lost one EBBL side before last round, and that was to another EBBL team, so I think its about average.

Yep, it's almost like we bribed the organisers. Worse than FIFA us EBBL teams...

Seriously though, what are the odds the top 8 teams all avoid each other? Once upon a time I knew how to do this calculation, but a brief look online last night didn't sufficiently bring the knowledge back.

It's something like if A is drawn first (where A is a top 8 side), chance of drawing a non-top 8er is then 8/15, gotta multiply this by the next matchup doing the same (7/13) and so on...then I'm not sure if I'm multiplying by 8 or what?
If I am, then it's about a 16% chance? That seems high so someone tell me what I did wrong.

Yeah the draw was unfortunate, especially for those hoping for a bit of excitement.

I think you were right up until the point that you multiplied by 8, so it's about a 2% chance.

Very sad to see to be honest. I like to see underdogs get far, don't give up hope though, anything can happen in the cup.
