I would disagree. With those nice starting skills, I would definitely go for some inside training, especially inside defense. Doesn't cost any salary later on - your team will profit. And, since age won't be a problem later on, rather his potential, I'd try to get him to about TSP 120+. And yes, you'd need some 1on1/ Forwards at some point. But if you want to go for homegrown and 1-position-training, I'd definitely start with the slow inside training (while it's still slightly faster) and later on switch to outside-training (which will be quite fast because of his hight, even later on ..)

btw: the only thing I wouldn't train is rebound (even though I love rebound), but that'll cap him way too soon. So only ID and maybe some shotblocking (but I myself would just stick with ID with this guy).
