basically the first thing you want to do is look at your given roster. check to see if you have any 18-19 year olds with good potential. from there you want to decide what positions you want to train. i like training 2 positions at once so that's what i would do. that means you should have at the very least 4 trainees. from there you should set up a consistent training schedule. do not stray from it too much. at first it might not seem that you are getting enough training, but there will be a few weeks where you will have players pop in more than one skill. make sure to train stamina and free throws during all-star break and playoffs/off-season. also consider training passing to increase offensive flow.

strategy-wise it doesn't matter too much in that division since everyone is still learning basically. but you obviously want to play to your strengths. if you're good on the outside then feed those players the ball on offense. use this time to experiment with different tactics to see what works best against what.

look to get a well-rounded team through the transfer market. domination in one area of the court will only take you so far and will leave you exposed. also make sure your arena can cover your expenses. you don't want to be losing money. also make sure to schedule scrimmages religiously. if you have players that are already over 48 minutes that week then don't put them on the active roster for that game. it ensures that every player gets the minimum amount of minutes to boost training and game shape. that's all i can think of right now.

I would use my first 14 transfers wisely buying low, young 19/20yo with Stong skills and free minutes step trade 1 or maybe 2 levels then sell and repeat in order to give me a decent cash balance. I would then buy 3 decent trainees, forget about results and play each of them 48mins a week in a single training regime, then try and sell at ridiculously high prices when they look great and hope some idiot buys them off me. (high percentage chance now with so many new managers.)

Basically similar to before but slower because of the transfer % restrictions and slower due to slower skill pops but the principle is the same.

ALL surplus money would go into stadium expansion.

I would try to build a cash balance of $500k and set myself targets of perhaps $100-150k per week profit from picking up a bargain during a time when there are the fewest people online.

I would then start to worry about tactics/enthusiasm etc In other words I would use BB as an economic simulator for 3-4 seasons, write this time off and then start the game for real once i have some players that know more than to tie up their own shoe laces.

Oh I would also sack/sell 8 players to bring my roster down to no more than 10. If you need someone else go buy a 1k player on the TL then sack before the economic update. If ANY manager reading this that is out of their National Cup has more than 12 players you are in my opinion wasting precious salaries....

Do not monoskill your players with training, too much wage for too less results.

train inside (IS/ID/Reb), make 5 solid inside players and play look inside.

turnover a few of the inside players for guards with good OD, passing and inside shot.

Exactly waht brianjames said especially at lower levels. But mostly figure out what position you plan on training. I train 2 pos (C/PF) each week. But guards can be just as effective. They are a little harder to train, but seem to be the minority so they sell higher (I think, been a while since I've tested the market). And don't forget to get trainees who already have good base skills in the attributes you aren't training. Meaning make sure you get a SG that is at least decent in rebounding, IS, ect because those attributes are harder to train. You get a SG with awesome JS and JR and he'll still only shoot .300 or less if he is atrocious IS. It's pretty unfortunate to see SG stretches out for a dunk. Shot Missed.

My SG with JS proficient, JR prominent and IS atrocious shoots 43% FG (only 34% 3FG), not 30% or less. ;)
IS is not really important if you don't use an inside focus tactic.

I did exactly this. Albeit, I used basketball acumen and experimentation at the beginning, but this has worked very well for me. 16-6 first season in D.III and 8-0 thus far this year.

I never have any players near the top of the league for stats in any category, but I do have 6 guys in double figures for the season. Every brick must be strong if the wall is to hold.

In my personal opinion, just starting out in DIV, train guards. Teams with only guards starting out like that seem to beat teams with just inside players.
I trained guards starting out, and have been till the beginning of this season, yea could be why i'm still in DIII, but now that I have switched to inside training, My guards are superior to most DIII teams and alot of DII teams which will allow and hopefully maintain the winning as I sell decent inside players for much weaker, trainees.

Teams with only guards starting out like that seem to beat teams with just inside players.
