neither you or your opponent can shoot field goals...try something besides Base Offense.
if you Centers are stronger shooters try Look Inside.

but you had better ratings than your opponent in almost every area. tough loss.

Actually I played 2-3 defense :)

That didn't really help though...

the first few scrimmages I played, before knowing much about this game, I played the default offense and defense and got blown away.
It seems that I have good Centers, so I am training Centers, and am playing Look Inside offense and 2-3 defense.
I have won my last 4 games.
Just try things out. and see what results you get!
remember, the lower you finish in the league standings, the better draft player you might get, depending on scouting !!!

and while you brought up scouting.....I am now scouting 2 players a week. did anyone scout just two a week last season, and did they get better players than say 5 or 5.5 stars??

I am just a newbie so don't believe what I say :)
But it seems to me you had a terrible day for 2points shots. The 2-3 defense helped you to increase your rebound, but the price to pay was no stealings from you and no turnovers for him.
You have got to do stg about your field goals.

Btw, nice team name... mine is SmellyCats :)
