Were you talking trash about the Japanese league or were you taking a shot at me directly? I couldn't tell. My SG plays well against all defenses..Prolific JS and a proficent IS..If a teams goes 2-3 he shoots 3's if they play a 3-2 he goes inside..I trained him to be a balanced player. He does pretty well. I was just giving my 2 cents to the thread question. Now for you(season 2 team) to try and talk trash to a season 7 team is pretty funny. I will just laugh it off..
How does your SG do when the other team puts up a strong inside d team rating (or better)?

I will put my SG to the test next Thursday in the Cup final 8 round. I will be playing a team ranked 370 in the world. If my SG balls, then you have your answer.

Not talking trash - just saying that you're not facing a stiff inside team defense. You are the one who brushed off my comments about overall team defense. Also, I notice that you often play this guy at SF instead of SG, so you must not 100% value inside shot for a SG.

Just another comment - I am training SFs at the moment so I sometimes play my NT SF at PG or SG. He has a very high level of inside shot (even higher than proficient). He can still get shut down in a look inside, even though the guards he goes up against I'm sure don't have high levels of inside d. So how do you explain that?

I'm not saying that high inside shot on a guard does nothing. I'm just saying that you have to make trade-offs in the game - and I would rather have high team ratings than overpay to get high individual ratings that contribute nothing to the team rating.

i totally agree i got long time, few guards with IS 7 and several with IS 1, in the end the guys with 1-2 level more of JS score better independent from the IS(driving was mostly the same).

I believe we are lossing the edge here.

I think we all agree that training JS instead of IS is better because Guards tend to use more often JS than IS skill. That being said, I still think having good IS is an adventage that, properly used and given the opportunity, could be the difference betweeen winning and loosing.

Because, we are discussing if IS is a useful skill for guards not if JS or JR are better skills than IS for a guard, right?

the thing is it still useful, or tend to be nothing ;)

Sometimes when i play Ferda my center/PF on Guard i think yes, but my experience with guards is going to they never use it really.

In my experience it is useful. 2 to 4 dunks oportunities can make a difference when exploted properly ;)

Same goes for 2-4 blocks a game, or 2-4 timely three pointers, though most BB users beg to differ about the importance of Shotblocking and Jump Range, evidently.

Now, the question is would you take 2 to 4 dunks per game, if it meant that your team as a whole missed 4-5 extra 3s per game? It is all relative. Because to get a SG to proficient inside shot means that you are not training him in other skills.

if i stay with my IS 1 or 7 experience, i would go for the extra haldf level of JS or one driving instead of the very long IS training.

I don't know. But from my experience, the most explosive players(in terms of attacking the basket) are listed PFs playing at SF. They tend to dunk a lot more than everyone else. In fact, the world champions of IV.64 USA had a SF that shot fit this criteria. He averaged about 19.7 a game and shot a whopping 51%. A lot of them being dunks.

Inside shot? You decide.
