Ha. You and the Traptors are low, I agree.

I don't just make these up though. The rankings are based on an equation that weights team rating, record, and point differential. I've adjusted the equation slightly as the season has progressed to make them a little more even. Right now rating is the highest rated, followed closely by record, by followed a little further by point differential.

In your and the Traptors case, your low power rank is a result of low team ratings in game. I'm not by the computer that I have those stats, but I know that you both are outside of the top 5 or 6 in that category, despite your successful record.

The ratings calculation will be affected significantly by subs (in my case some 2-3K players) entering during garbage time and then running a +25 down to a +12 in the 4Q. Thereby lowering two of your multipliers.

You might try taking a look at the individual game ratings of each teams starting lineup and adding that to the mix!

I get what you are saying but I think coming up with a formula to predict this is a bit more complicated. For example, you said you lean heavily on your 5 starters and have some other low salary guys for garbage time. In contrast, my team, I use about 8-9 players every game. Tough to account for both of these different styles with one formula. At the end of the day, these rankings mean nothing but it is fun to see and analyze/discuss amongst the group.

Well, nothing's perfect, especially when trying to rate different teams with different styles of play and caliber of players. There has obviously been a lot of thought, research, and work that has gone into this by Natellio and I, for one, appreciate and enjoy the rankings and comments that he comes up with, regardless of my position.

Some quick responses to the discussion I've missed while on vacation.

First, I'm glad to hear some people enjoy the rankings I do. It's not too much work now (I just punch in ratings), but I did put some effort into formulating the equation. The main point of anything I do is to try and create some discussion in the forum.

Think of these rankings like the RPI college basketball rankings. They're not perfect, but they can give a little more information into how everyone is performing apart from just records. And in my experience, team ratings in games show a pretty good story into how good each team is. If you're playing trainees or scrubs in lots of minutes, those ratings will obviously be effected, but just be happy that everyone else will underestimate you going into the playoffs, when you play full strength.

And just as an FYI, the teams that seem a little under rated in my rankings all have low team ratings. The team rating rankings look like this:

1) Eagles
2) Schrodas
3) Eclypze
4) Natellio
5) Updog
6) LCC
7) BAT
8) Traptors
9) Extra Crispy
10) 2 Left Feet
11) Cresleys
12) Drons
13) Ozark
14) Cyborgs
15) Barnburners
16) Constructs

That gives a little explanation as to why the Eagles and myself are rated so much higher. Again, not perfect I understand, but it's something.

Good games over the weekend. I got crushed by Ozark. I had two injured starters, but still no excuse for that sort of let down. My ranking took a big hit because it. Other big games included Extra Crispy getting a tough win over Toronto. EC normalled, and it paid off. 2 Left Feet CTed the Tornados to no avail, and are now in the outside looking in at the playoffs. Updated storylines:

1) #1 Overall Seed Still no seperation here. It's down Eclypze and Schrodas. Schrodas just took over the lead after an 80 point humiliation of the Constructs. Elcypze will now have to win out, and outscore his opponents by 12 more than Schrodas, while in the more difficult conference.

2) Playoff Race in Great 8 As mentioned above 2 Left Feet have fallen behind after a CT and a loss on Saturday. Still four games to play, so he can make up the ground, but it will be an uphill battle with lower enthusiasm. The Eagles look to be a lock, and the likely 2 seed.

3) Big 8 Fight for 5th Natellio was able to build a 4 game lead after a 7 game win streak. Could have put the whole thing away with a win over the Tigers, but couldn't pull through. Lake Charles still has a chance, but will have to win out, and catch up to a 114 point deficit in PD.

Power Rankings

1) Schrodas 16-2, 17.193
2) Eclypze 16-2, 15.608
3) Eagles 11-7, 12.345
4) Updog 14-4, 11.656
5) Extra Crispy 14-4, 10.359
6) Traptors 13-5, 10.274
7) Natellio 11-7, 10.165
8) BAT 9-9. 5.979
9) Lake Charles 7-11, 5.404
10) 2 Left Feet 8-10, 2.517
11) Cresleys 10-8, -0.659
12) Dron's 5-13, -6.910
13) Ozark 4-14, -11.026
14) Cyborgs 2-16, -21.154
15) BBBs 3-15, -26.927
16) Constructs 1-17, -34.837

I knew that might happen if he went CT against me at home. Honestly, I'm fine with the loss. I'd rather have great enthusiasm going into the playoffs....even if it means I don't have home court advantage in the Finals....assuming Eclypze and I meet in the Finals. Obviously, someone who would CT with three games left in the season has no grasp on the influence of enthusiasm. Yes, you have the momentary glory of beating the #1 team, but you hinder your long-term success.
