did every good passing C in the NBA really have to spend a season or 2 playing PG?
Amen to that comment.
There's unrealistic and there's just silly.
No. But, every good passing C in the NBA... was not born 7 ft tall. ...*ahem* life example for myself. i am the same 5'10ish height I have been since 11 years old. I was always top 5 in height in my grade at school even until about 7th grade despite not growing past 4th grade summer.
I was always tall, so I did a lot of post drills, and boxing out, etc. big-man skills. My dribbling is horrible for a "guard" and I can't go left. Had I been a superb basketball player to begin with, I'm sure even with my growth stunting, I'd of had a firm enough grip on the fundamentals of being a guard, etc.
For them, I'm sure Vlade Divac didn't always go straight to the post, but played guard positions when he was a kid, or maybe he had a late growth spurt. point being. NBA caliber players, probably didn't spend their whole childhood at 1 position.
