A good thing to remember is that the cap is "soft", i.e. it is possible that even bench warmers can become legendary if trained enough, the only difference being that it would take much longer than for all-time greats.

I do not really believe that it will be technically possible to train a bech warmer to those kind of levels, but there wont be a specific cap (e.g. strong) either.

Yes, except there will be a cutoff line at which training slows down instantly and considerably.

"I don't know half of you half as well as I should like; and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve."

A player's current skill levels and potential are independent. You could have a player with mostly pitiful and awful skills, who has MVP potential. He probably won't get to extremely high levels simply because he won't have a long enough career. Another player might have respectable skils, but bench warmer potential and may already be at his soft cap so that it will be harder for him to improve.

There may be some correlation between skill level and potential, but I do have a draft choice who has 5* skills and 1* potential.

i think i might be the only person who really doesnt like this system. a new player could come in and get his few players that are higher than allstar, and drop the rest. then head over the the transfer market and buy up cheap allstars us established players are casting off. this gives them a team with much more potential than what any of us have. i just feel like the game should reward long time players more than it does now.

Even if this is the case (which i dont believe it is) more established teams have more supporters and therefore as a 'franchise' they should be making more money per week.... if this is true and the transfer market stabilizes then you will be in a better position than any new team to build at the same if not a faster rate than them.

I strongly doubt there will be a cap on skill levels because that makes no sense what so ever (in fact, if I hadn't read the notion in this thread, I would never have thought of it). Rather the 'cap' will be much like the way development works now, that is, age-based.

I expect bench warmers will be slow to train, achieving new levels only after five to six weeks training, for example (it could be much longer, too). This will compare to All-stars taking the 2-3 weeks to reach new levels that happens now. As with now, training rates will gradually slow as the players age. Perhaps World Class potential players will continue to train with satisfactory results past age 24, the reputed point at which continued training is no longer worth doing today.

So if two 19-year olds start out with Mediocre Jump Shots, the one with All-star potential will reach new levels much faster than the one with Bench warmer potential. Where the bench warmer tops out will depend on all the usual training variables. However, this is also true of the All-star potential.

Hope that makes sense.

you mean to not have a "cap" - instead of that you would like to limit speed of the training in basic for players which have a low potential?

One silly idea; what about implementing some kind of, probably slow speed, psychological training for potential? Or maybe go even further, implementing, psychological and health aspect in a player, as a parallel training, for example, that could involve above mentioned potential training (like group therapy for self consciousness), some kind of height preparation (%oxygen), faster injuries recovery (using specialized therapist), psychological wellbeing (psychiatric help after losing an important game) and similar stuff, of course all those wouldn't come for free and would carry some significant fee. As I said at the beginning of this post, one silly idea ;)

It is not so important how high can someone jump, more important is who is the last one standing

It's not what I would like to have happen, it is my considered opinion of what is going to happen, whether you or I agree with it or not.

oh... well I don't agree and I hope you too:)

why do you think that it is going to happen? (I can't see the explanation on your notice above or I'm just that bad at english language)

edit: anyway I think that noone will train players worse on potential than all star:)

You (indeed, most of us) will have to train 'star' and 'starter' grade potential trainees becasue there won't be enough better potential trainees for all those interested.

Also let's wait and see how this change arrives. I don't think people who say 'I won't do this' or "We will have to do that' will see any of their predictions come true.
