To be honest I can't see many teams buying players solely for the tournament. It is a single elimination format. I wouldn't want to risk the chance of losing and being stuck with extra players and then taking a enthusiasm hit by selling them. Also, the revenue is split 50-50, it doesn't really amount to that much even for teams with big arenas.

Are you serious?? 3 home games in this comp will give at least a 600k return for 18k stadiums plus..... thats your staff paid for all season.

Downside for me is the computer loves to draw me away from home most of the time!!

Dont know if its been asked is there a shortcut to the whole fixture list... ive seen BC Toroo away to LA Lakers looks a tasty match up - any other stand out fixtures?

Therein lies the big 'if'.

If they get lucky with the draw and don't cross paths with one another. A struggling team from a new country might go far if the draw is favourable. I presonally find it refreshing to see success is being rewarded.

Well, statistically it's highly unlikely that the best teams in the tournament will play each other sooner than round 4 or 5.
It could happen to a few of them, but certainly not to lots of them.

Keep in mind that the majority of these "champs from all over the world" are teams that would struggle in the second division of countries like Italy, Spain, or US...so the teams from those "major" countries, unless they are extremely unlucky with the draw, can pretty much count on getting far into the tournament.

LUCK -aha... amazing we are so deep into the thread before someone mentions something about the 'random' factor!!

Just a side note to all reading this (i assume most are Champions!) I have a Who's The Daddy Fed if you fancy talking up your chances or discussing things such as 1.5mil + transfers or quadruple prominent players.... (again for the elite)

in fact Charles can we all have even more money for being members of such an elite forum... we could do with all the help you can give us!

So you are saying that in a competition in which the draw is completely random, that luck does not influence how far a team could go?

I cannot find anything wrong with it even if they do manage to avoid each other until the later rounds. It rewards a specific group of users, the champions. People who excel in the game by winning.

And it is for one season. Past winners no longer get to participate next season, only current winners. So unless a team is completely dominating a particular country (Well, kudos to him/her), which is unlikely in the established 'big' countries like Italy, it's a weel thought out reward scheme.

Again, I'm not saying that there is anything wrong with it. I am just saying, for the last time, that it's not true that the majority of the best teams will not be able to count on another game a week for quite a while to add another couple of trainees.

No I agree... and as I guess I would be considered one of the lesser teams in your eyes...which wouldnt stand a chance in the more developed countries... (given ive played for exactly 2 seasons at the end of this week I would challenge this point and say i could compete with 90% of clubs that have been established 3seasons or more) so a little bit of luck and who knows what could happen...

Out of 220 odd teams I would hope 200 wouldnt want to draw me and i would probably want to avoid the others...... with the right draw, no injuries and the right additions to my team I could target final 16...... (either that or get tonked out on day 1!)
