Match day #7 7/24/10
Big 8
Champaign @ E.C. High-Flyers. The first half was all Champaign, and going into the locker room they were sitting on a comfortable 23 point lead. When the teams returned back to play, Champaign had a tough time concentrating on sustaining their big lead and allowed what was nearly a heroic Flyers comeback. Champaign accounted their first half success to team chemistry and the ultimate 96-93 victory.
TDX Dutchmen @ San Diego Crusaders. The Dutchmen were feeling confident and took it easy. The Crusaders backcourt was lighting it up against the 2-3 zone, but their efforts weren’t enough to outscore the 6 Dutchmen players with double-digit points. Donny Hutson and his boys took the win 118-91. Crusaders management was heard complaining about that lack of heart his boys have on the defensive end and that he could be looking to replace some people.
Marietta Magic @ Tachenko. Tachenko are still limited by injuries, and couldn’t give the red hot Magic quite the fight that they wanted to. Magic stuck to what has been working for them, and played a look inside offensive tactic for a 112-99 win. Alvise Corsetti’s 33 points were overshadowed by the four Magic players with 20+ points. Had Tachenko been able to convert at the free-throw line the result could have went Tachenko’s way. Their coach is definitely going go over free-throw shooting at practice sometime soon.
Cleveland Crazys @ Red Terrors. Both teams put up stronger scoring ratings than defensive ratings, yet the game was low scoring. The score after the first quarter was 13-9, and at half Crazys were up 42-27. In the second half Terrors stepped up their game and had a terrific 3rd quarter, and narrowly stole the game 76-73. Phil German was unhappy with the defensive efforts of his fellow guards and called them out after the game.
Great 8
Indiana Gavno @ 1Derz Bangerz. Gavno is slowly trying to get their game-shape back up, but they weren’t prepared for the Bangerz yet. Beavers wasn’t worried about scoring himself, and let his teammates do the finishing in a fairly easy win. Casey Slater of Gavno was heard complaining about being transferred to a team that can’t win, but management is trying to reassure him that they will be able to compete again real soon.
Roxas City Red Claws @ The Illusion. There were tons of fouls in this one-sided affair, but luckily no one was hurt. There were multiple fights that almost broke out but the refs got things under control with a couple technical foul calls. The result of the match was never in question though, Illusion 109-77. John Barr commented, “14 points in 16 minutes, not a bad days work for the 3pt champ”.
No Potential @ Chicago Goats. Goats just wanted to show off to Magic that they have the defense to stop them when their highly anticipated game arrives. Mecislovas Jakubauskas was the scoring leader for this game with 23 points, but it didn’t give No Potential the win. Goats 108-88. All Goats starters had double-digit points plus Webber off the bench.
Armageddons @ Prov City Investors. Armageddons shut down everyone on PCI besides Carmona, and once again highlighted the one man can’t do it alone saying. Armageddons were ecstatic after the 97-85 victory, and were jumping around on the court when Chris Warfel awkwardly yelled out “group hug in the shower tonight!” and the whole place went silent.
