I'm signing up. Going to take it slow and try to train a mostly home grown team. Actually going to try something out with buying a high salary world renowned trainer but doing 2 position training because I'm actually curious to see if it's even that much slower than an advanced trainer with one position training.

Tactics wise, I'm going to try to run a Princeton team myself too while playing small ball. Run a 1-3-1 with 2 amazing centers with OD and SB.

Most likely ill have to train the OD/SB bigs myself.

I think we discussed this somewhat on the offsite some time back, but I think that the level 7 + 2 position training is a horrible inefficiency - and this, mind you, coming from a guy that did a metric shitton of two position training for the first four or five seasons or so of my BB career. But I suppose Utopia would be the ideal place (see what I did there?) to test that out.

Yea, that's one thing I'm worried about - the cost of a trainer is going to skyrocket in April. I really hope they expand the number of trainers on the market to offset it.

See, while I think it would be inefficient, we don't have any real info on how inefficient it is, if any. In my view, if you could train 6 guys to the efficiency of 95% of single position training with an advanced trainer then I think it's actually a good idea.

It really all depends on what your goal are though. For a team trying to be completely home grown it could be a good idea to get the most amount of players the most training.

I am actually considering a nice long extensive test to see the training speeds of a level one trainer. At least until trainers become affordable again

Aim for 5. Trust me. ;)

I'm probably going to be two positioning with a level 4 so we can certainly compare notes on how it turns out, though I'll probably be aiming for lower potential. The other thing to keep in mind is that we'll all be starting from scratch, so you'll need to have enough money to pick up the 5-6 trainees plus the trainer plus afford his salary (and take care of the arena building and stuff). Of course, I respect that you're trying to do something different and don't mean to sound like I'm trying to talk you out of it.

Haha well I won't be buying any trainees since ill be completely homegrown, so if I dont start with any young guys ill just be putting all money into draft and arena and not even getting a good trainer, at least until I get a complete draft class on my team.

holy cow, I completely forgot that new teams START WITH PLAYERS
when I made this account I had one guy under age 21 and one guy over $3k salary. And they weren't the same guy. I actually asked if I could delete and try again, and I didn't even know how to play... it was just so obviously horrible. I bet I do better the second time around lol

There have been a few people asking on the forums if they are going to try and balance the starting positions of all the teams. That is, make sure every team has at least one trainable youngster and the teams have somewhat equal footing. It'd kind of suck for one team to get a team full of 4k-5k players and another to have all 1k-2k scrubs.

yeah I asked BB-Charles that about 3 years ago back when we were in the same league he used to actually come on chat. I don't know why they think the way it is is acceptable but I've never seen any indication of considering a change.

New teams should have guaranteed two star/allstar 18yos, a couple "useful" veterans, and then fill out the roster with the current useless crap. But what do I know?
