Eesti U21 put more into this game than Australia U21.

WHY IWEN WHY

Not much of a problem for me with this.

We had the home court and if we had of CTd (or what ever the equivalent is in National games) we probably wouldnt have won the next game, where as by banking the enthusiam we might have been a real chance to make the final 8 if we just could of snuck through

Sometimes you gotta roll the dice and it was only a 3 pointer with not much more than 10 seconds left that took the game into extra time

Vey unusual for both teams to play 2 3 zones.

Without knowing what Boromeos stamina or outside defence is its difficult to be critical but on appearances it might have been better to start him over Rylance who was sufferring poor gameshape and from memory has pretty ordinary stamina.
(2 assists from rylance v his opponents 12 doesnt look good, nor does 8 from 19 shots v his opponents 12 from 19)

I have no problem with Williams not playing as high ID was needed, not whinging and I dont know the full story but Ryder might have out performed Marchini as a back up SF.

A bit strange that we out performed Eesti in 5 of the 6 areas but got smashed in offensive flow.

Also had more points per hundred shots in 4 of the 5 positions and was only marginally behind at the SG position.

That all said I was really impressed how the team performed in the final 3 lead up games, when on paper we werent that great v our opponents in those games.

Hope Williams can continue to improve and can help lead season 24s under 21s onto even greater glories

A bit unfair on Rylance.

He hit 7 huge points late in the 4th.

We zoned do the SG from Eesti could have been defended by anyone.

Again I dont know the full picture with regards to Boromeo, but all I stated was the stats concerning assists and shots taken.

According to the players ratings we won in the PG position, yet some how we got smashed in offensive flow

Low game shape and low stamina might have been a factor with Rylance.

Again I dont know the full story with other factors

I wasnt intending to be critical in my summary and thought that I had defended you on some matters

As a team we played fine.

If you re-ran the simulation we would win 8 out of 10 times.

.

Most probably yes.

Again I was just quoting stats and certainly do not know enough about the skills of Bromereo or Kemp to make a defininate call.

Not criticising and again supported your decisions to; not play my boy Williams, to play a 2 3 zone and also not using more enthuisiam.

Just raised the question as to whether in hindsight given his low gameshape and the stats from the game, it might have been better to play Rylance as a back up instead of as a starter

To be fair a lot of the team had bad game shape and that was probably the biggest factor, not much the coach can do about that. Both Rylance and McNicholas were only respectable at the wrong time.

Would love to thank everybody for their opinions, advice and help the last two seasons.

I have decided not to run for the next U21 term, however, the next manager who takes over will have a golden generation to manage.

Thanks again for all the support.

Well done Iwen. Thanks for your service the last 2 seasons. While we not of got the results we were looking for you have set up a system to ensure we will do better in the future. The squad had a few holes each season but we now seem to have depth and options at each position over the coming seasons. I'm sure whoever takes on the role we have success which is partly due to your work and I hope you remain an active person is helping your replacement and our community by providing advice and help moving forward.
