There are differences between countries which committed genocides.
West Germany acknowledged the atrocities, made laws and de-nazified and educated its people. Turkey did the opposite with the Armenian genocide, actually people are and have been imprisoned if they talk about it.
In France it's forbidden to deny the Armenian genocide.
Where all German youngsters know about the Holocaust, few if any Turks (want to) know about the Armenian genocide.

I don't believe in restricting the freedom of speech. Let people expose themselves - guess we have around 300 neo-nazis in Denmark and everytime they are active in the media they are ridiculed ..or rather they ridicule themselves.

Freedom of speech doesn't mean you should allow anybody to say anything. The US is so hypocritical with freedom of speech that it bans tv shows from saying words like "fuck" or "dick" yet it allows any guy in the streets to run a campaign denying a genocide happened. That's probably the biggest insult you can make to history, yet it's insults like "dickhead" and "fuckface" that get banned from tv. Puritanism for the win!

I think its too bad that so often discussions about the freedom of speech revolve around profanity or pornography...really I think the original intent was to preserve political speech (historically suppressed by the ruling parties for obvious reasons). I'm not saying we should ban all forms of profanity or pornography and if you've been to the states, that's clearly not the case.

Just a general question, for movies set in the WWII theater, what do they do in Germany about the insignias on the German soldiers uniforms?

as answer before they are allowed since they are fall under art, at least if the movie isn't glorifying it and targets to say that they was right.

The Franco-Turkish vote weights almost as much as the Franco-Armenian vote.

I'd say it was a political trickery. It led to a strong reaction from the Turkish state that was used to make the point that Turkey couldn't possibly join the EU behaving in this manner.

Divide and conquer, they say...

Careful friends, perilous subjects for this board here :)
