You dont think Kobe is in that conversation? Im not saying hes the best, but if youre going to debate greatest offensive player of all time you have to mention him.

Especially if youre gonna throw Malone in there. Malone but not Kobe? Really? I could argue he wasn't the best offensive player on that team!

Steve Nash is going to be a kid in a candy store. Hes basically got bigger, better versions of Amare Stoudemire and Shawn Marion. Oh yeah, and maybe the best offensive player in the history of the game. That too.

Hehehehe ya dude, as long as M Brown doesnt get in the way and let Nash do his thing, he's gonna have a great time and I look forward to seeing the Lakers playing, whether or not they win the league I dont care, I think its gonna be fun to watch em anyway...

I can second that argument about Stockton better than Malone.

Now if we're saying greatest offensive player. where defense, and that jazz means nothing, My money is Carmello Anthony. from a strictly offensive only take, he's my guy.

I may regret saying this since there are a lot of Laker and OKC haters out there, but personally i would take Kobe or Durant over Carmelo even just off the offensive side of the floor. Carmelo is shaky sometimes and can have really bad FG% for games, where I believe Durant and Bryant are a little more consistent and better with the three point line in front of them.

Tough to pick one, I love all 3 of them... Melo has been a monster since he started carrying the ball more and not just in NY, he was amazing at the olympics...

I wont even talk about Durant, he's too good, theres no pt... Kobe is amazing, but getting old, overall he has been one of the best in his position in all history, but is not as effective today, especially with shitty players around him...

So TODAY Id not pick Kobe, but he has mos def done waaaaay more than the other 2, no comparison...

Today i would most definitely pick Kobe still because he is still plenty effective as he was 2008-09, 2009-10, and 2010-11. You just have to look at his straight numbers:

08-09: 26.8 PPG
09-10: 27.0 PPG
10-11: 25.3 PPG
11-12: 27.9 PPG

Sure he isn't averaging 35.4 PPG like he was in 05-06, but this was the best scoring year he has had since 2007. This last season was also Kobe's best year in free throw attempts per game and free throw makes per game since 2008, which means he was getting to the line more often and making better use of them. Sure his FG% and 3FG% have both gone down slightly but you can expect that with all the players considering this last season was a condensed season where all the players were playing 3 games in 5 nights (including the fact that the Lakers had two Back-to Back-To back games scheduled). I would also like to add that i feel it is unfair to say that he has had shitty players around him due to the fact that for the last few seasons the Lakers have had Gasol and Bynum on their team, it's just that the Lakers have had no quality guards on their team until Ramon Sessions in my opinion.

that's the problem, he is still getting high ppg, but it's cuz thats the only play they have, he takes wild shots over and over, % is low(ish)... With Nash he'll probably get a lot more open shots and tends to play much better as he wont have to carry the ball as much and make his own plays.

He's still an amazing player, but I dunno if I'd pick him TODAY over either of the other 2. I dunno, its a tough choice no doubt, he doesnt defend much though...

Very true, the problem of not having a good PG is exactly that he had/wanted to carry the ball and had to make his own plays, looking forward to seeing him with Nash, gonna be great :)
