You need to BB-Mail GM-RiP though to get accepted to the forum because he's the one that started it.

Hey,

I've got a U21 player that the national team is interested in. He's a small forward, so I can only specifically train him at jump shooting, outside shooting, and one on one. I'm new though, so I still haven't figured out how to train properly. Any tips for training a SF with tonnes of upside.

Holy cow, what a player to start out with. I really think you should just sell him. You could probably make a ton of money and get 2 or 3 players that are still really good with the profits. It is hard for someone just starting out to make the most of a player like that, and if you sold him to another Canadian team, you could watch him become a star. It is up to you obviously, but my advice would be get 2 or 3 good players for him rather than trying to train him, because it will be very hard for you to make him meet his potential anyways. If you really want to keep him though, I'm sure there are many experienced managers that would help you along the way (mainly The Mogul or chris902).

The u21 coach Mogul has a nice introductory guide posted here: (141616.1)
As has been mentioned you lucked out and got an amazing prospect. Selling him will likely generate something in the $3-4m range, but if you want to keep him then you definitely will need to invest some money and time.
The first thing to note is that you can train him in a variety of positions (and you should do so if you want to make him a SF) but you need to play him out of position. You definitely want to train one position training so that you can take advantage of his potential.
Without seeing his skills I would suggest playing him 48 minutes this week at PG and work on his outside D. I would also contact Mogul and send him his skills and see what specific detailed advice he can give you.

It's nice to see that you generated such a quality player and seem to care about his development. Drafting an 18 y/o all-time great is like winning the lottery. I'll echo that you can train any player at any position. Their listed position is just a recommendation based off their attributes.

That's absolutely amazing that you got a player like that "out of the blue." Selling him would be an great idea (as said by others). Since you are a lower division team, it would be better if you got a Guard or a Small Forward to train instead because of the lower salary they would take towards your team. But that's just my opinion :).

Posts that affect the sale of players are not allowed.

Post the information you posted in the off-site forum rather than here.

Sorry guys, I didn't know that rule. I'll be sure to avoid those types of postings in the future. Thanks a lot, beanerz.
