Somehow the empty slots - not lucky fans, but actual empty slots - on Red Claws roster have taken shots and actually scored.

That is talent, I spend half the time wishing my starters would score more and he gets "empty spots" to score. I see a "Coach of the Year" in his future.

Match day #8 7/27/10

Interleague Play

San Diego Crusaders @ 1Derz Bangerz. The Bangerz were too good for the Crusaders on this night and were able to give their starters some rest. The ball movement was terrific on the Bangerz side, especially down low, and three players were close to triple doubles. Bangerz 110-74. Lluis Gassol was asked about how he felt being on the transfer list and responded, “My team’s owner has been trying to get rid of me for a while now, and at first I tried to play harder to show I can stay, but it didn’t work and know I’m just waiting for the right buyer.”

Tachenko @ The Illusion. Two number one seeds came in, and just one came out. Illusion 96-59. Tachenko wasn’t looking for the win knowing two of their key guys were injured, and took the match easy. Caldeira was the only one who showed offensive efficiency for Tachenko, and it wasn’t nearly enough to match the 9 players who scored for Illusion. Barr was asked after the game about the minutes he’s been getting and said, “Yeah this has been a great week, I don’t even have 48 minutes under my belt after 2 competitive games. I don’t plan on getting used to this though, I’m ready to go 80 minutes any week the coach needs me to.”

Red Terrors @ Chicago Goats. The Goats weren’t impressed by the Terrors record, and took the game easy, but Terrors showed them they had something to worry about. The look inside and 2-3 zone tactics of the Goats let them dominate inside on both ends, but it freed up the backcourt where the Terrors were true to their name. Terrors 112-98. Kramarski was asked what fueled him and his teammates for that 36pt 2nd quarter effort, and responded, “Well it was during the break between the first and second and we all looked up at the screaming Goats fans, and Jansson said ‘let’s give it to them’ and that’s exactly what we did.”

Cleveland Crazys @ No Potential. The slower paced motion tactic of the Crazys proved to be the difference versus No Potentials run and gun offense. Crazys 101-82. One indicator that the Crazys ran their offense effectively was that despite it being outside oriented, they were still able to get the old charity stripe. Zabalburu was asked to comment on his game this night and said, “Woo I was on tonight, and I kept getting the ball back from my teammates. Normally Barry is our number one option, but it was me tonight and it felt great.”

TDX Dutchmen @ Indiana Gavno. It’s the same old story with Gavno, and the Dutchmen took advantage. Scoring came easy to Hutson and Pugh, and they led their team to a 94-75 victory. Hutson said in a post-game interview, “It was a good win, starters didn’t have to play a lot, and we are good to go for our cup match and upcoming league match against Illusion. We’ll be looking for an easy win in both games.”

Marietta Magic @ Roxas City Red Claws. This wasn’t much of a match, with the Claws playing just enough players to keep it from being a walkover. Magic 129-39. The Magic will take the win, and be happy with their new number one seed.

E.C. High-Flyers @ Prov City Investors. The Flyers weren’t impressed and took it easy, but it nearly but them in the butt. Flyers had to put on a show in the 4th in order to claim back the lead and go up a comfortable 10 points. Flyers 99-89. The 6 Flyers in double-digits were too much for Carmona, who struggled from 3pt range, but still managed to get his points. Bãdoiu was asked about his role being matched up with Carmona and said, “Ehh he was nothing, I wasn’t impressed” then the interviewer pleasantly reminded him that Carmona had 37 points against him, and Bãdoiu went silent.

Champaign @ Armageddons. The Armageddons didn’t put as much effort into this match and it showed in the result. Champaign 92-68. The Geddon players struggled to score, and had flashbacks of the Illusion match. The 5 Champaign players with double digits on the other hand didn’t find it difficult to get the ball in the hoop. The big man duo Gajda a

The big man duo Gajda and Pyatetskiy didn’t have to do much this game and enjoyed the rest after playing less than 30 minutes.

Nightly Notable

Carlo Stefanini of the E.C. High-Flyers stood out this night with 27pts, 4rbs, and 8ast. He led his team in a close match, and did it against the strong backcourt of the Prov City Investors.

Great recaps!

In other news, proof that you can teach old dogs new tricks: Mario Mannu improved to awful driving this week! At 28, he's still trying to improve his game. That's why the Magic opened the piggy bank to bring him to the team. Just a game or two before MM reappears on the league leader board.

Yes Barr played 90 minutes this week thanks to a line-up setting error in my friendly. They thought it would be cool that instead of coming off the bench to get enough minutes to keep good game shape he should start and play all 48
