As long as Chicago don't do something stupid and make a play for him. Derrick Rose is the man, and the Nuggets would want Noah and that would set the Bulls back abit. Although we've been playing well without him

What the Bulls really need is a star SG. One that's money from 3PT range, or a least start Krover and see how he goes.

Korver should never be a starter, he doesn't defend well enough to warrant starter minutes. As proven with is time with the 76ers and the Jazz.

The Bulls however are trying to get JR Smith or Rasual Butler. Neither are starters but can share the SG/SF spot with Deng, Korver and Brewer.

He's too old and slow, it's a pretty fair statement.

He will also be near untradeable at 14 mill x 2 years (and what, 37? at the end)

And I like the guy! and his game, he's just not suited to the knicks offense with a 7 man rotation over the course of a season. Might be ok for the playoffs but it would be hard.

Three things here from me

1 - Everyone gets hung up on Carmellos scoring but he plays NO D AT ALL. Just like Amare - they won't be winning squat anytime soon even if they managed to land Chris Paul.

2- When Miami & Boston put together their big threes they both got elite defenders in the deal (Garnett & LeBron) as well as a 2nd guy who was decent (Pierce & Wade). NY has none of this. The bench depth will come in the offseason or NY but it won't really matter. D'Antoni is a very good offensive coach. He has managed to make NY the 2nd highest scoring team in the league........but he does nothing on D - they concede the most points. Amare and Carmello play right into this.

3- I think they will take a dive this season as they now have lost their best spot up shooter in Gallinari (crusical to D'Antoni's system) and the 2 biggest acquisitions(Melo & Billups) are not great at playing the pick and roll which is Amare's bread and butter.

Bang on Noodles.

Billups is a great PG, no doubt. In fact, he would be a perfect acquisition for the Lakers as he'd fit the triangle perfectly. He's great at running offenses and being a 3pt threat. He's never been an athletic guy nor that fast, pick and roll just isn't his thing. Amare needs the pick and roll to get his 15-20 points a game. You can't give him the ball at the low post and let him do his work, he just can't.

Melo is a great scorer no doubt, but does most of his scoring via isolations either from the perimeter or in the high post. He doesn't defend as well. The problem now is with the Knicks offense, which essentially is pick and roll / drive - kick, you will have to alter that and allow for Melo to do his work. Melo isn't a great spot up shooter like Ray Allen. He needs the ball in his hands to score. Since he never really plays pick and rolls... what's Amare gonna do? Felton looked amazing in the Knicks offense cause the way he plays suits the Knicks. Much like Nash would be awesome for the Knicks. Now he's traded someone where Pick and Roll isn't played much, he won't be useful anymore...

They won't get Paul because they don't have the cap space nor the assets to trade for him or acquire him as a free agent. He'd have to accept around $10m to play for the Knicks, not even he's that desperate, especially if you could be earning $17m-$20m elsewhere, the money is just too much to pass up.

All up, the only people that think this trade is a good thing for the Knicks are delusional Knicks fans who are blinded by the bright lights and uninformed people who think basketball is all about points and stats.

The Knicks lost some players with real good upsides in Chandler, Gallinari, Randolph and Mozgov. The best thing they did was drop Curry's contract. That's about it. Oh, and they'll get a boost in hype and marketing... But no D, no championship.

Here's the sweetener. If Knicks didn't land Carmelo, they would have approx $30m in cap space come 2012 free agency, enough to get Paul or Williams AND Howard.

It took me a long time to find the post but:

Instead of isolating him all night, the Nuggets had Carmelo Anthony stand in the corner while they ran pick-and-rolls and post-ups that drew his defender into the lane. The result: A huge scoring night for Anthony, and an easy win for Denver. This approach could probably also add years to his career thanks to reduced wear and tear.

This is also the guy who was shooting a ridiculous percentage at the olympics etc while essentially just spotting up. The guy can shoot! It might work ok on the offensive end (at least, for him).

its no secret that carmelo can shoot, hes one of the best offensive players in the world atm. i rate him second just a nose behind kobe

1. kobe
2. carmelo (a very close second)

problem for the nicks now is getting players to surround the big two with, maybe shane battier or something lol

Battier would be nice addition - as would pretty much anyone else who can play D and pass and doesn't really care about stats cos lets face it after Melo and Amare get their shots there isn't going to be that many left.

The bloke i would really love to see in D'Antoni's system is Kevin Love.
