Of these, the ones with skills most similar to Prokopis Venizelos have been selling for around $ 2 050 000 to $ 2 550 000.

I rest my case...

I don't know what his skills are so I can't comment.

Also you are looking at 21 year olds. I was looking at older/non trainees like 25-27 year olds

Considering the value of guards. My 23 year old player with 41k salary and allstar potential got following comment:
"There have been 11 recent transfers of 23-24 year old shooting guards with wondrous jump shot and allstar potential. Of these, the ones with skills most similar to Luca Rizzoli have been selling for around $ 1 400 000 to $ 3 000 000.". One of those with star player potential and 28k salary was recently bought from free agency for 1.6M at 24 years of age so probably these players are actually worth around 2 millions if well balanced and a little more if 35k salary. With a 20k salary you probably got a little less than half that money.

I took him off my training schedule as he stopped popping so should be capped at just 41k. Therefore doubt that star player will get a cap as high as 35k without training after being capped.

As advice to threadmaker:
I strongly advice you to train 2 positions and 5 players. It will as a new player be easy to rotate and give them enough minutes during your 3 games a week. With such approach it will take you 4-5 seasons to get a strong outside team and you will also be able to earn money from sellings. If you train two positions instead of 1 you probably gets a 25k guy instead of 35k guy. Doubt there is more of a difference. You are likely to get more than half the money as well when you sell.

I think that training 5 players will actually generate more transfer money if all were to be sold at 21 years of age when a player with perfect training and star potential most likely have capped. With 1-2 more seasons he will be capped with two position training and probably be possible to sell for marginally less money.

The big advantage with training 5 players is that your team will be much better in 3 seasons and you will earn more money from success in league than with just 1 strong position.

Had your player had at least Superstar potential then I would have thought that 1 position training might be motivated because then you can't reach potential until 24 or 25 with perfect training and at that age training really starts to slow down as well. My 25 year old PG is probably capped now at about 120k salary and I trained him 4 seasons or so with just one position.

You can easily use your 300k and invest them once next season starts in 4 18 year old players. You might have to settle with either a poor starting capacity (~3k salary) or with a low potential (starter or even 6th man potential) on 1 or 2 of these talents but you will surely still earn some nice money from 2-3 seasons training of them.

This is my recommendation and congratulations to a really nice player with your new team!

In short to thread starter:
Train 1 position for rest of season. Once next season starts make sure to have 5 nice prospects and train 2 positions. If you are lucky you get 1-2 nice drafts so that you don't need to bring in 4 new players. Reason for this is that your players potential is in my opinion too low to sacrifice 1 position training for.

You got enough money for both a 4 star trained and to secure 5 nice trainees.

Veni ain't worth that much...not even close =P

My opinion on the player and star potential is that they're worth training, but only to sell later on to upgrade other positions. They can make decent division II starters, but if you want to be in the elite bracket in II, you really need more from a trainee.

That being said, he can carry you all the way to II, but from there he can only slow you down.

So find 2 other guard trainees early next season after the draft and then have those guys as the focus (1 position training) then in a few seasons time you can sell this trainee you have to upgrade other positions.

No offence, but what on earth are you talking about. Perhaps you were in a rush... but you're giving horrible advice to a new player...

6"1 is great for a guard trainee. The potential more than meets the requirements of a div IV PG. ID is a bonus. His guard skills are decent enough to be trained.

I am really really guessing here but I think you could get him to something like this :

Jump Shot: prolific Jump Range: proficient
Outside Def.: sensational Handling: sensational
Driving: sensational Passing: sensational
Inside Shot: respectable Inside Def.: pitiful
Rebounding: respectable Shot Blocking: average
Stamina: pitiful Free Throw: awful

I think that would be a fine division II point guard.

i'ld take one of these PG's anyday !

I do agree that you should only train PG, but if I were you I'd do a couple things that people havent suggested.

- Buy another 18 year old PG to train because you'll always have room for at least 2 trainees. After this main guy has received his minutes for the week he can't get anymore, so you should be utilizing your extra minutes at that spot to train another guy.

- If you haven't done so, buy an advanced trainer.

- When training, there's something called the elastic effect. This means that when comparing similar skills (PA, HN, OD, JR for example) it will be easier to train the lowest ones and harder to train the highest ones. Because of this, I'd say do not start training OD right off the bat or if you do, only mix it in every now and then because the elastic effect will slow it down a lot.

- I'd train handling for PG because as a PG that's a very important skill which he's iffy at currently and it will also increase Driving, (which I think is the most underrated attribute in the game) very quickly. You can also mix in some JS and I would say 1 on 1 as well but you can only do that for 2 positions and Handling is very similar to that training.
