I haven't noticed lately because I haven't been watching my games, but I do remember a few seasons ago some steals turning into quick (3 or 4 seconds) baskets at the other end. In my opinion the main thing that could be added to the game is a fast break. I have some ideas about how to implement it but am so far from being a programmer that I will keep them to myself as they are probably either impossible or so time/code consuming as to be impractical.

Once I scored a basket that still makes me laugh.

Watch your games more closely, then. Often, after a steal, it takes less than five seconds until a layup or dunk is attempted.

If that's not what's happening, either your inside offense is very weak, or you're playing slow tactics. But in any case, I have observed fast breaks with regularity during my games.

Yes, but those are usually desperation plays. And I'd say the simulation isn't perfect in terms of time management. But I'd surely say those layups 5 seconds after steals are meant to be fast break points.

for the bad time management, notice that a putback takes two seconds to perform. If that was the point of reference, I sure would say that five seconds look about right for a fast break.

in my last Cup match (35566197) (against a Bot, but that way I had enough steals to make the point), I had fast breaks at the following points:

1st quarter, 0:50 left (driving layup, guarded, blocked)
2nd quarter, 8:40 left (top of the key, open, missed)
3rd quarter, 10:45 left (wing, open, missed)
3rd quarter, 7:20 left (top of key, guarded, blocked)
3rd quarter, 5:40 left (top of key, open, scored)
3rd quarter, 4:30 left (wing, open, scored)
4th quarter, 8:20 left (dunk, guarded, missed)
4th quarter, 4:00 left (dunk, guarded, blocked)

My opponent also had fast breaks at

1st quarter, 10:30 left (dunk, open, scored)
3rd quarter, 6:05 left (top of key, guarded, fouled)

now my teams fast break execution sure was bad, but then normally my guys are not a transition team, and I didn't play a fast-paced offense. The fact that three of these shots were blocked means that the player actually was open and could only be stopped by blocking, which would be consistent with a fast break. Also, with one exception, only the shots that were blocked or fouled were guarded.

the problem with the fast break would be it needs a new skill, speed. Maybe with driving and OD you could calculate it, I'm not a programmer so i have absolutely no idea how this would work.

I'm actually pretty sure it's driving (fast break offense) and shot blocking (fast break defense).

I must say i agree with you. I have been looking my games also very carefully.
