So from my point of view, the changes in the game engine were necessary, or I would have switched to an inside Training regime. But I can't quite assess the changes yet, since my opponents were not that tough since then

That's what I said in my first post as well, but I think they went from way right to way left, if you understand what I mean. From black to white, from day to night ;).
(ok i'm exaggerating a bit lol)

Just to document my findings.. I have lost when playing the other top teams in my series.. and I contribute a lot to HCA. (I have been drawn away to my top 2 rivals both seasons I have played!)

Anyway - I know for a fact my players stats are up there so I am now questioning 2 things.

1) Stamina - As many of you know i have shown little care/respect towards increasing my players stamina and although i dont seem to suffer late collapses (in fact the reverse as my bench is often stronger than my starters) I may have to review this.

2) I had a crazy thought that local players play better in their local countries. Crazy I know for sure but I know again for a fact that the old japanese 30yo SF (now dropped - Atroc passing/handling) and one of our current top PF's (again you wouldnt give him a second glance on the TL believe me) are banging in points like crazy every week rain or shine...I have nothing else other than a hunch on this and am interested to hear if other users also feel there maybe a bias towards buying local...

As some of you may know I have a pretty international team (no japanese!) and just wanted to know if this could have any truth to it or am I just losing it!!

I was just talking with another manager and there are some basic things that are still confusing, and we've both been here since the start of beta testing.

1- One key issue which has never been addressed is, does inside shot skills have an effect on players that drive in for layups/dunks? For instance, a guard that has good driving seems to get into the lane more and take more layups/dunks/pull-up jumpers. Does their inside shooting, and/or the opposing player(s), inside defense effect those shots?

This is a key issue because if inside shot does matter, esp for guards who have high driving, then it will have an effect on players value and what tactics they are useful for.

2 - Does the game engine take into account a players skills when selecting shots? It's seems that if one player is a really good shooter and/or against a bad defensive player, the engine leans toward that mismatch to take a lot of shots. The GE's ability to apply your offensive tactic in a way that your team is looking for good shots and avoiding bad shots would be essential to running a balanced offense. IE, a guard that has low inside shot shouldn't go inside and post players up, and a PF w/ low jump range should naturally avoid taking 3 pointers.

If you have good inside scorers and bad outside scorers, you can play look inside/low post. If you have good outside scorers and bad outside ones then motion/r&g are easy choices. But, if you have good inside and outside scorers, and you play base/ptb/patient, how can you keep your PF/C from taking bad outside shots and your guards from taking bad inside shots?

IMO you lose because the other team ID and PD is one level up than your attacks whilst your ID defense is one level down and PD is just a sublevel better than other team attack. Add this to a lower pace tactic and that explains your opponent high FG and your low FG.

The rebound difference is due to your team made far more missed shots.
Dispite of how good is your rebound rating you can't pick the rebound if the other team scores :D

Your calculations aren't fair.

You pick the whole FG% of the oponnent and only pick the 3FG percentage of your own. All your outside shots between the 3 point line and the bucket might have gone in or whatever.

You simply can't compare 3FG% with FG%.

And you need to check the whole offense, not only 1 part of it. Your OS is 1 level up comparing to his PD, but your IS is 1 level and 1 sublevel lower than his ID. You played PtB there, so that means normal focus, so he got a better defense at at least 50% of the shots .
On the other hand his IS is 1 level and 1 sublevel higher than your ID and his OS is only 1 sublevel lower than your PD.

I think the result of that match isn't that special, he was just the better team. You can see it easily in the points per 100 shots.
