Unexpectedly I made it to Div II.

I won on the road in the playoffs. It took a roster worth close to 375,000 in Div III. I ended up losing 50,000 a week and paying 25,000 in Tax.

Here was my roster going into Div II:
95K C (age 30)
70K PF (age 33)
55K SF (age 36)
50K SG (age 32)
45K PG (age 27)
20K Backup (age 36)
20K backup (age 23)
15K backup (age 22)
10K backup (age 21)

My arena:
13500
5250 (overbuilt for Div III--4250 is ideal with a price of 18)
500
40

I earned 40,000 weekly in merchandise thanks to an all-american roster while in Div III. Also, I earned the most income from my arena except for those teams that had advanced from Div IV the prior season.

I still carry 4 trainees that are home-grown. They are getting close to becoming starters. I plan to get them close to capping and then wait for a title shot to cap them out.

So this guide is pretty much complete. Using good economic strategy can get you to Div II. Div II or better you need to workout how to make an efficient roster or save up a ton of cash to go on a title run. Personally I am going to try to save 5 million before I try my luck at a title shot.

So this season the plan is to finish my arena and start buying some younger starters that are still trainable. Depending on my circumstances I will wait at least one season before I go on a title chase. I could possibly make it to Div I in 9 total seasons. We shall see.

Update for season 27 (my 7th season with this team):

I have made the playoffs in my first season in Div II. Despite doing so, this has been the most challenging season thus far. I had to battle injuries and plan out a strategy to hone in on the playoffs.

I sold off all my players above age 33. However, I have found very little market in USA in which to add players that can play in Div II. My homegrown trainees are now starting to finally be useful, however in order to make them really useful, I need to train at PG which will make winning next season a challenge.

The best suggestions I have for newbies:
Do not tank. I tested it out with my Utopia team and it was a terrible decision. The economy is terrible. Even with pumping a ton into my arena, I can't even come close to the top teams in tickets. Also the draft is a huge gamble. So its not worth it. Tanking in Div I or II can make sense, but ultimately it will set you back 1-2 seasons.

Managing the economy in the end is what leads to wins. Once you have a finished arena it comes down to how well you can balance spending vs saving. You still have to use strategy to win games, but economics is the key to a solid foundation.

Building a team is secondary IMO. Sure it helps to have players that fit their position. But in the end if you can afford a roster that is 20-40% more costly than the second place team, you are going to win a title in most cases. How you go about getting the money to do so, well that is what makes this game a challenge.
