my average receipts (7120 arena, before the recent update) this season have been $ 233k (playing since season 28)
average receipts of a rival with a 15050 arena $ 259k (playing since season 30)
another with a 29750 arena $ 288k (playing since season 12)
highest average receipt of my division 21750 arena $323k (playing since season 2)

my data is taken from Buzzer Manager, why should I lie? arenas in my division range from 7,7k (mine) to 31k; 13 are bigger than 12k; 10 are bigger than 15k; 7 are bigger than 20k; 2 are bigger than 30k; average receipts range from 323k to 179k.

my point is that my team is quite new (only 4 complete seasons). you cannot compare my situation with novo carioca's, for example, who plays since season 1.

in the beginning you can make money not expanding much and playing with prices. you can build carefully. there is no need to rush. your fan base grows with time. this game is a very long term game. i'll keep expanding slowly when my seats will sell out often with max prices. my plans are to promote in 3-4 seasons. by then my arena will be 10-12k, with max prices, it will make the same money as a 20k arena with lower prices and I'll have saved lots of money for other purposes. that's my plan. i'm pretty sure it will work.

but those small arenas are no excuse not to succeed, per your philosophy, a large arena is a complete waste of money...

i never said that. what i said is newer teams do not need large arenas during their initial seasons. i said that advising newcomers to right away expand their arenas to 15-20k, a process which cost millions and millions, is bad advice. new teams should build carefully.

Free advice, spending 1million for 76k a week 30 year olds when you have no plan or ability to promote...is not going to help you in the long run...

Not planning to promote does not exclude the fact I should avoid being demoted. I must remain competitive and since I was promoted to div II I have managed to finish 5th or better in my division, which is my goal for the next 2-3 seasons. I bought the top scorer of the league with 110 TSP wonderfully distributed for only 1kk, in this inflation times he was a bargain for what he is able to produce, the cost-benefit of having him for 76k/week is very high, he will stay in my roster for 2 seasons and then will be sold for not much less than I paid for him; my salaries are below average in my league and I get a very decent weekly surplus, allowing me to afford comfortably paying 76k/week for him to grant my team to stay in div II while I keep improving my trainees.

Granted that Utopia is full of smaller arenas, newer teams...but those small arenas are no excuse not to succeed,

utopia is different from other countries, you get mostly experienced players as rivals and, since there are very few bots, the cup only lasts 1-2 matches for beginner teams, which strongly impacts negatively their finances; beginner teams now get stuck in the IV division making very little money; in my second season in utopia I currently have the best record in my IV division, 5-0, and cannot grant a decent attendancy even with low prices and no defeats; it's tough now, it would be worse if i had spent my money expanding an arena which would be even more unused for the moment; of course if i get promoted and start getting more money for attracting a bigger crowd I would expand. for teams who started in utopia in season 28 things were much smoother to get promoted and thus avoiding major finantial constraints.

given your complete lack of progress building your arena

that's not true; i expand my arena constantly; i've expanded more than 10 times in those 4 seasons; i just don't expand carelessly. again: my 7k arena makes virtually the same money than many 15-20k arenas you find around.

I want to take note, carefully, of your expertise as a 'successful' new team.

yeah, please, you are cordially invited to keep taking notes on the development of my team. my previous team, who played in Brasil Div I for 10+ seasons, was Brasil cup champion, Brasil national runner up twice, B3 record of 5-3, was built over a slowly built 15k arena with full prices. let's see.
