Can't think of anyone right away. Mickyster was interested in the senior role so may be possible. I gather Sid Vicious has been taking an interest. There are always Fanny, Latino and Silo...

I cant imagine myself taking the gig on as I have a bit on my plate in real life.

Am still hoping that Iwen will reconsider and continue to coach on.

A couple of other capable possible candidates might include;

Yourself Yoda
Mllama
Matty8
Trickster
C-Cat
Koops
Coach Regan
Mickyster
Bainsy (from Gisburne)
Coachnoodles
Dire

Apologies to anyone Ive forgotten to mention

Good opportunity for anyone to learn.

Personally I hope those who are just interested in collecting achievement points do not apply

And again I hope that Iwen does reconsider

That would be a issue but to be honest the amount of work to take on this role vs the small amount of points would be a dumb investment to do it for that reason.

I did South Korea U21 a number of seasons ago (before achievements existed, just for the experience) and even for a quite small country it takes up time ... and they had no chance of winning games as they had very few managers and most of them had no idea.

A country like Australia with quality players because of the number of quality managers has an expectation of getting results and this certainly takes many hours a week on training advice, checking minutes/gameshape, scouting opponent, etc. Not to mention the start of the season finding all the players, setting up assistant coaching structure, scouting the new draftees!!!

So for anyone considering running make sure you understand the hours involved otherwise you'll have one pissed off Aussie BB community looking to CT you every chance they get ;)

P.S. @Sid, I wont be running, no time for the Bogans let alone U21

I'd never take on the U21 gig again, too much damned work and I don't have the time or the desire theses days.

Plus I'll have a couple of players in contention for the team, and I hate adding my own players to the U21/NTs

hahah don't scare away the potential candidates! Should've said it was rewarding and engaging but noooo....

That should be motivation to be running the U21. What if someone gets the gig and purposely does not add your players to the squad or does not play them in the games just because they got bitter about you beating them by 1 point in triple OT in a league game.

If someone is the type of person to get bitter over that, I wouldnt vote them in as coach :p.

Just feels more satisfying when someone else deems my players good enough to be on the team, rather than adding them myself.

That is a great list but I can fairly certainly knock off Yodabig, Mllama, Trickster, C-Cat, Koops and Dire. But all the other names you mentioned would be awesome candidates.

I have done this job for several seasons and it is tough, far harder than the senior role but is also so much more rewarding, you really feel like you have such a massive role in shaping the team by getting the players trained in the right way and over half the players on the Indian U21 team at one stage were ones I had saved from teams going bot.

It is fantastic to know. Hopefully we will have a few candidates with the credentials and the personality to get things done. Things are so dead on the offsite forums right now it is a pity considering the massive work that managers have put into things in past seasons.
