Heres my view on what happend: The Knicks had a shot at being a contender in 4-5 years with the young talent they had, coupled with Stoudamire. They decided to throw that away and look for a quick fix, by making another triple threat. With Melo and Stoudamire being two scorers, I think if they gey a veteran, defensive guard who knows that his job on the team is to give these two guys the ball then they could have something. Imagine this team with lets say.... Jason Kidd? I think they could make a lot of noise with a guy like Kidd on the team. Just my thoughts, comments?

Well... that's not a nice idea, except that they have nothing to trade.
So they'd have to wait to after the 11/12 season to get him.

He is nearly 38 now (March), and has noticeably slowed over the last two years. Let's say you're the Knicks - do you tie your wagon to a 39 year old and give him 2 years 5 million... ?
Especially with a CBA that's likely to have even less wriggle room?

Can't see that happening. I can see them going for Felton again tho'.

Basically this is the actual team with Billups as PG...but this wasn't Knicks plan.Knicks plan was to find three stars to play aginst Heat stars.But wade and lebron are among the top 5 players in the league,and melo and stat ask too much mney to have a third star to join them...so basically they make a bad move,and the worse thing is that they traded Gallo,Mozgov,Ar and Curry's contract without receiving a decent big man back eithr from Denver or Minnie,i don't understand why they don't get back Andersen,Pekovic or Koufos,at the time they should add the third star and a starting big man without having the money to do it...

If Billups can keep his current rythm and motivation, the Knicks can have made a better trade than what the majority thinks here. Am I right, Miami?..!

Billups value was underrated in the trade,because he is far better than Felton,but they however give up too much

I agree about Billups. Yes, he might be past his best, but still he plays great. The problem is that he cannot average 38 minutes like Felton, especially with that high tempo of NY's offense .

This is a false problem,because Douglas can play 15-20 minutes per game,so Billups can handle well the tempo in the key moments of the game
Also there were some rumors that he didn't want to play in NY. I am not sure about that, I believe i have read it as "rumor". This will also be an issue for next year.

I think this is only a rumor.Billups is one of the most professional player in the NBA,so he is going to play for the team that has him under contract,and surely he is not sad to play in NYK.He loves Denver,so he would prefer to not be traded,but i think that in the moment the trade became official,Billups will put the maximum effort for the Knicks cause,he'll probably finish his contract and returns for the last sesons with the Nuggets

well, Douglas will have to play more pg now and this might be a problem. felton was averaging 38,5 minutes so far while Billups 32,3 . it's clearly a matter of how good they can handle their minutes.

6 minutes a game means less than 2 minutes every quarter,Douglas and Carter can handle easily these few minutes
