if you get your minutes right, players gameshape can improve to proficient, and at that gameshape, he will perform a whole lot better than at respectable.
training to me is the most fun part of the game.. i have been training a french player for 3 seasons, and hope this season he makes the u21 national team!
things to look for...
AGE : the younger a player is, the better he will train.. so start your training when they are 18 to maximize their development
POTENTIAL : potential determines how good a player can become.. a player with HALL OF FAME potential, can go onto earn huge salaries 300k+ per week if trained right, where a guy with all star might reach his maximum at $60k per week..
STARTING SKILLS : you want trainees with good starting skills in their primary stats.. try and look for players with no less than mediocre in their primary skills, as if they are inept, you will spend a whole season training that skill. respectable is a good starting stat....
HEIGHT : Height doesnt have any impact on the game, but has a major impact on training.. Basically shorter players train primary guard skills quicker, and taller players train primary Forward/Center skills quicker.. So for guard training, stick to 6'2-6'3 or shorter to maximize training, and 6'11 or taller for bigs..
POSITION : start by training either guards, or bigs.. Small forwards/Power forwards are tough, leave them for when you have a better understanding for how training works.
So looking at your roster, you have 3 guys 20 or younger. I would suggest none of these guys are worth training.. the 2 19 year olds potential is to low, and Gustaw Gorczyca is 20 and untrained (he could have been a beast if started training at 18)... you can start training him, but in 2-3 seasons, any 18 year old you start training now would have eclipsed him.
Training : to get the maximum benefit of training, you want your trainees to get 48 mins + per week game time, at the position your training.. If you are training PASSING for PG only, the player MUST play at PG to get training that week. So minimum you want 3 trainees (3 x 48 min games per week) and if you are dual position training, such as Jumpshot, 6 trainees maximum.
STAFF : the staff is totally dependant on you and what you can afford..
FITNESS TRAINER : ADVANCED (or lvl 4) is considered good value for money.. you want starting salary to be as low as possible, under 14k, and you can pick these guys up on the market for under 20k.. the fitness specialty is nice as it reduces players chances to drop stamina, but you pay more for this... If you are just training game shape, go for the standard basic trainer, as there is no benefit to game shape pased on level.
DOCTOR : its always contentious... You dont wanna pay em, until someone gets hurt.. i have competent at the moment, again go as cheap a salary as you can..
PR GUY : gives boosts to merchandis, ticket sales etc... again i wouldnt go higher than competent or advanced and as cheap as possible..
To sum it all up, if you are training players, your trainer is your most important staff member... keep the costs down as low as you can, but remember competition is usually stiff for cheap quality staff.. for example, a lvle 5 trainer under 15k salary can cost over 400k...
also check the HELP forums, plenty of great info in there! but, feel free to ask here as well!
