After the tough schedule we've had to play this season, it's really nice to get a win against the #39 German team. Yes it was CT vs TIE but a win is a win.

This was another great team effort. We had 7 players in double digit scoring, 33 assists and shot 55% vs Germany's 35%.

Great work a win is a win. It has been a tough season but it is great to see you still finding ways to bring us honor. Excellent to see Sonoda and Kouzuki still playing well. I thought Kouzuki may have his last game but he really hasn't had skills drops so maybe he will get another season. The strong - proficient GS every week is surely attractive!

Nice win over Tounes which was a good team for us to play. Opposite of last week's team effort though with it really being a 1 man show.

Mr. Taiyo........let's scrimmage next week. I see that you have 10 U-27s on the team. Play those 10 and let's see how well these 21's play. It will be kind of like a try out... let me know

--National Team Press Announcement--

Season 20 Review

Our primary goal each season is to advance past the first round. Unfortunately this season we did not accomplish this. However, this was mostly a result of a very difficult schedule and I will show you that we performed better that our WW ranking. In fact, maybe you could argue we should be ranked 39th.

Summary of Results:
Games against teams ranked better than 39th = 0 Wins, 4 Losses
Games against teams ranked 39th = 1 Win, 1 Loss
Games against teams ranked worse than 39th = 2 Wins, 0 Losses

Based on the above and considering we’ve been ranked between 45 and 55 throughout the season I’d say this wasn’t too bad. And, I think everyone would agree we’re doing much better than we did with the previous manager.

Here are the results again by game, ordered by opponents ranking so you can see for yourself.
@ 14 Argentina Lost 111-119*
Vs 20 Hong Kong Lost 86-110
@ 26 Schweiz Lost 0-25*
@ 31 Eesti Lost 80-107
@ 39 Srbija Lost 91-121
Vs 39 Deutschland Won 109-92
Vs 75 Cyprus Won 112-97
Vs 78 Scotland Won 127-97

(*) On the negative side, we did have the one bug induced forfeit against Schweiz, but there’s a good chance we would have lost that anyway. But from a positive, we did take #14 Argentina to overtime and had a lead with just a few seconds left in the 4th.

Player Performance

I have compiled the complete player stats for Season 20. You can find it posted here: (http://sdrv.ms/QYAWVw)

Here are the Leaders for Season 20:
Top Scorer – Furusawa 195Pts, 27.9 per game
FG% (20 shot minimum) – Furusawa 62%
3P% - Ochi 38%
FT% - Kouzuki 100%
Reb – Furusawa 73, 10.4 per game
Ast – Tagawa 33, Ochi 6.4 per game
STL – Tagawa 7, 1.0 per game
+/- Saiki, +8.6 per game

There were 4 players who did not see any playing time: Hara, Shibukji, Tsunami, Asano. Tsunami and Asano are on the roster as prospects so they are excused. To continue the teams youth movement I will remove Hara and Shibukji and consider some younger replacements. Also, I will be reviewing the status of Kouzuki and Suenami since they will both be 34 next season and have had their skills slip some this season. There are a couple interesting U21 players coming up and I will also be reviewing some of the other players on the prospect list to see if they’ve made significant progress since over the last couple months.

On Monday we have the rare occasion to see Japan NT vs Japan U21. As YC requested, I will only roster the youngest 10 players. Additionally, I will start the youngest player possible at each position. That means we will see Yasujiro, Tsunami, and Asano as starters in the game. I will also call up the top 2 young guard prospects based on their skills at the beginning of the season to start and have a tryout. Welcome Hironobu Yokotami (for sale) and Hideyuki Honda, at least for this week. I'll do a more extensive review of prospects for next year's team later.

This should set up a good game between our teams and will give the young National Teamers and the upcoming U21s a chance to show their skills.

Should make this an every-season-thing.

I'll be around (I think). Be good to see how Matsumoto auditions...

Yeah, I was thinking the same. This is good for showcasing the youth and see how they stack up, at least for one game.

Wow....nice game...the ratings were better than the score. Asano blew up like chiken pox in a 3rd world country. I thought the best match up was the Ekiguchi vs Tsunami at SF...
Hey...If you want to run it back next week...I would be down.
