I watched Vector's game earlier tonight. Their first defeat of the season. I'm not quite sure what to make of it. They were 25 pts down after a very one sided first quarter, and while it never got much worse for them, it never really looked like getting better either.

Also, Vector have played their starters in both league games, so I suspect they might be rested on Thursday, and they'll also TIE the game, since I'm sure they regard promotion as more important than an insignificant Cup game against a middle ranked DII team.

I'd have a sly fiver on Ashington, they've got enough of a cushion in the league to play weakened teams in a couple of games and they seem to have managed game shape and enthusiasm well so far.

I pushed the boat out a bit in terms of minutes and enthusiasm last week so I need the draw to be as kind as possible. Bringing in a player or two would be nice, but doubt I can afford to improve on any of my starting 5 with the cash I have. Last season I brought in a monster C, but he ended up being benched more most of the final anyway and turned out to be an unnecessary waste of £600k.

I really, really promised myself I'd save some money this season too.

Its difficult to predict anything in the Cup, since a lot comes down to who wants it. Tatatallfella went close last season and have to be the team to beat again.

I'm just happy to still be in the tournament. This is the furthest I've been, and to make the last 16 is a real boost, though admittedly the draw has been mostly kind to me. The cheque for winning each week is making the bank manager happy, even if the fans don't always appreciate us resting players for League games.

I'd like to add something to what Mikramus said about this being All Star Week. The additional problem is the inherent risk in resting your starters in Saturday's League game, assuming you need them for two Cup games. Of course half of us are only going to have one Cup game, most likely leaving our starters with fewer minutes than we'd want.
