You are a great manager, a great person and even a great baller in real life. But your league was pathetic last season lets face it. As you said it you nearly won it with a $300k roster. So why the heck didn't you pick up another player at some stage and actually win?

Here is a ways more interesting question. I remember answering this in the game chatlog. I had (and still have) the cash to buy a solid frontcourt.

However, what's the point in promoting? My trainees are good but not quiet there. That means I could have promoted and suffered from training them in the ABBL. That would have most likely caused my demotion. So then I would find myself right back in d2, with trainees that are too expensive to give them a solid help and some stuffed merchandise following the demotion. In other words, stuck here for a long time. I don't want a short ABBL trip for the sake of it, I'm gonna establish myself there.

This is about timing. Don't rush things. I now have a 2 seasons gap to promote and I'm not gonna miss it. It's about the salary efficiency of your trainees, your bankroll and the situation you are in.

I take everything into consideration. This season, I'll have the fan survey bonus from a solid previous season. I will be able to afford a sweet team while remaining in a relatively easy conference.

Can't say I enjoyed my second term, though I did stop Latino from winning the election so you can all ball me for that.

I will give you a ball every day for the whole season for that effort lol.

Reminds me of Aussie cricket really. The mentoring that mllama had with the likes of iwen, c-cat, dirwolf, j-dog and seagulls was similar to the golden era of shane warne, glen mcgrath, david gillespie, steve waugh, ricky ponting, adam gilchrist, matthew hayden, justin langerand a few more that I can't recall.

Aussie cricket then had a period of mediocrity when most of the greats retired similar to the Aus U21 when iwen (Ponting) had to do it all alone when mllama, c-cat, direwolf, j-dog, seagulls and co. found less time on BB.

Now we have the new generation with full of enthusiasm and new ideas (i.e federations). Who can take on the role of Micheal Clarke and lead us into the new era?

My vote will go to the one who I think will have longevity in the game.

Sorry, did I just read all I could do in the weakest aussie d2 conference was to win 14 games?!

I won 14 games AND made it to the grand finals with a... wait for it... 300K ROSTER. Shall I also remind you that I trained my kids since they were 19 without demoting?

I'm not gonna write a book about my personnal life. I've been around for a long time and I know what I'm doing. Mentoring and other stuff, all blah blah. I've been there before (SA U21 manager).

I will definitely not get involved if someone else is elected because I believe the only few that understand well the game will not sign up and I'll not babysit a newbie.

EDIT: oh yeah, my 300k roster also barely missed to upset the 500k roster of CC in the final game, at his arena and with less enthousiasm.

Can I just clear up something. You are the second person to directly/indirectly have a dig at my long speech and background information. I simply gave my BB background as if you check out previous U21 NT speeches (which seems the smart thing to do imo) then you will see this has been the nor. I simply wanted managers who didn't know who I am...to see what I have done...even if it isn't much...yet.

Secondy, "not a sprint but a marathon". That is why I am where I am. I'm in no hurry to make ABBL; I simply want to get there when my team is ready. Not, to get there, survive a season and then get relegated. No, longevity...as Koops has spoken of...is the key in this game.

Thirdly, in case people have thought me too dismissive of Mickyster's 5 Federation issue I thought a brief poll to gauge peeps interests would be beneficial at this point. If you could go to the "5 Federations" thread and cast your vote I think would be helpful. Afterall, my 'system', if you like, is intended to be a communal one.

Yeah iwen already took Ponting LOL

The reason I value longevity in the game is because whoever is going to the U21 manager will most likely be creating the Federation for the U21. If that manager decides to go inactive, then the Fed will most likely go inactive too due to lack of maintenance. What are the powers of a mod in the Federation should the creator go inactive?

Can they invite new people to the Fed or boot people from the Fed?
Can they modify/sticky threads in the Fed?

A mighty fine response! Credit where it is due.

Even though the voting has just opened, I think that your response will have earned you many votes.

Good job Mr Green.

Last night when I was reading through all these excellent posts by you articulate fellers, I was shocked at how hard you shot down Mr.Green, Razor, way too harsh (I thought). Then, you totally redeemed yourself by this post, jolly good show!

Iwen as the pure voice of rationalism as ever, the call about managers getting bogged down by a difficult DivIII league sounds rather familiar, and my excuse for being guilty for going inactive. And sage wisdom from Yoda as usual.

I concur with the idea that it is motivation and enthusiasm that makes for a fun and spirited community, not so much about giving the 'best' manager the U21 job. I think it does boil down to having fun in this game, at least that is what I have had to make it for, as I have never been competitive. So lets have fun, managers! :)

PnRoll is a buddy from waaay back in IV.7 days for me, but like you say Mr. Green I'll hold off on making a final decision on my vote, as it is now more interesting.

Only the creator of a Federation add and remove people from it. Which is why for me a Federation is not the answer. If it could be set up and the elected manager was given those powers and non supporters could join these federations only I would be all for it. We have well less then 100 people with supporter.

The person who creates the federation can transfer the ownership to someone else. But that is counting on them doing it. If a person goes bot for example not sure what happens to the federation. Just too many unknown issues with using a federation.

There are already 2 people who have set up Federations for the 21 NT side. One being Mr Green and the other someone not running as yet.
