So you guys only believe things when a BB said it, which is very weird if you ask me. If a GM makes a statement, especially when the GM says a BB said it, you should take it as the truth imo.
No, not at all. If there is a good evidence, like some stats that proves it then that is enough for me. In fact I would not take everything that BBs say for granted either, as they, just as anyone else, can be wrong sometimes. I would trust them more, but I would not take it for given if my experience show different (again referring to e.g. the clown myth in Hattrick).

I have also seen a few examples, and that suggests to me that it is likely. It could for instance be that there is a arger likelihood for a certain message when it is TIE vs CT and TIE vs Normal respecively. I do not belive that, but it could, and in fact it would be line with the basic idea for how the actual game engine works.

The interesting is that the state of BB is very similar to how it was in HT several years ago. People tend to take things as truths based on very little facts, which is quite natural as the game is quite immature yet.

Honestly, most of us are novice at BB, and we have a lot to learn. Actually, I think I still haven't seen a user that has seemed to be really knowledgeable about BB (I certainly ain't), and then it is quite dangerous to accept things as being the truth without really having evidence, as that will make it hard to really learn the game.

(Note, I am not saying that there isn't really knowledgeable BB users, just that I have not discovered them yet)

If you don't want to believe him, don't. But the idea that he wouldn't ask the BBs for clarity and then tell other users is a bit odd. He is a gamemaster. He's specifically entrusted by the BBs to help users. Why in the world would he lie about asking the BBs?
You are right that he is entrusted by the BBs to help users, but I really have a hard time believing that BB are using a particular GM to spread information. That does not make sense at all and would not be professional at all. IIn fact it would be a more un professional communication policy than I ever seen in HT, and my experience from BB is that thay have a very professional information strategy.
Also, unlike Hattrick, this game seems to actually have people who know their code and know what it does and doesn't do. If a BB says something, I'll believe it. I don't need a bunch of examples.
You have a point and there are very good reasons for that. HT started as a hobby, and was developed as that for several years, thus their code and development was not as well documented and planned as it would have been if it had started as a real company from scratch. However mistakes can still happen. I know I do mistakes, and forget things, or misinterpret things, and I know everyone I know does too, so I would be surprise if BBs wouldn't.

Okay, let's get this mess cleared up.

I've TIEd my last 5 league games and in the process I've seen all the variations of the "effort message" that exist in the game.

Game 1 - "Both teams played with the same effort"

(2418727)

Game 2 - One team played TIE, the other played Normal

(2418710)

"King John Warriors tried harder in this game than The Random Dunkers."

Game 3 - One team TIEd, one team CTed

(2418692)

"Newcastle Magpies were the only team who tried."

I can further confirm that those three descriptions are the only three effort messages in the Box Score database, since I confirmed them for the UK English database.

It is ridiculous that there is an actual debate on the messages of Effort in games.
If you didn't figure it out within 2 weeks, then you need take more risks with TIE and CT. Analyse games. It was so easy to figure out and it takes about 10 min.....

First of all.
"King John Warriors tried harder in this game than The Random Dunkers."

.... appears way more often than...

"Newcastle Magpies were the only team who tried."

First thing you'll think is why?... and then you should check more games to figure out why there are two messages.

If you didn't draw the conclusion that one message belongs to normal vs TIe/CT and the other one to TIE vs CT... then you need to learn how to put 2 and 2 together.

And seriously... GM-Juicepats is probably the most active Gm on the forum. ( Probably too active for his own health. )It's not a surprise that he'll contact the BB's more often than the other GM's to get answers on your questions. Be thankful for that, instead of throwing suspicion at his credibility for being the one GM that gets the most information out of the BB's.

What is your source for this?

Regardless, TIE vs CT will give that message - period.

what is your source that TIE vs CT will give that message?

The BB team.
Can you link to that BB-statement?

I asked them in response to this thread, and that is the answer I was given.

NO ONE at this table ordered a rum & Coke
Charles: Penn has some good people
A CT? Really?
Any two will do
Any three for me
Any four will score
Any five are live

Finally, some real effort to answer, especially the confirmation with the UK English database.

Of course it is not that much data, but still it points in the same direction as the small amount of data that I have from my games, but I have not CT yet, so I have even less information than you.

In that case I most admit I am quite surprised and dissapointed over the way of communication from BB. From what I have seen this far they have had a very good communication policy, but I guess they can stumble too.

I appologize if I offended you.

Right, an answer given to a GM by the BB team to be passed on to the community is not to be trusted.
