How nice starting players for you. They both need shot-blocking to legendary I think.

That's the plan. I figure it will take about half a season, but I'm willing to sacrifice that time.

well after looking through These Posts here, i reckon my fears have come true.

Some, more to say, very very few Teams got real lucky with their Trainees, some even did get two of them. Most of the Team got virtually nothing - and therefore it´s a real unfair start for all the Teams, cause some have a real nice boost start, most don´t have.

I think this is sad, because it doesn´t lead to more fun in the game.....

There is a bit a randomness in the game - it happens. In 3 months time, someone will probably have freshly drafted a 4K+ 18yo hall of famer, which will be a bigger boost that what any of the teams that have posted here have got!

Over the course of time, it will even out, and the best managers will rise to the top.

If you look at it from another angle. If you dont have trainees you wont need to waste money on a trainer and can expand your arena and/or buy some better players that will help you reach success faster.
If you only look at the starting roster and training potential sure things can be unfair. But who says you need to train players right away to be successful?

Exactly
