The one thing I have learnt is the $$$$$$ is king in this game. You need a good healthy bank balance to survive, and trust me, going from Div II to ABBL is a HUGE jump.

That is very important once you start in the ABBL, but it's also how you go about maintaining your team. It's just like jumping from d3 to d2. The difference is, half those ABBL teams have been there from the start or very early on. Some other teams have just been lucky to jump on the weaker side, and by surviving have made the extra cash to keep them going and get stronger as a result of it.

Dam I missed out on some juicy action too.

@ pablo I don't think making the abbl and then getting demoted straight away is a fail. In fact if you can make the abbl and then hang in there, that would be a rarity. Only a handful of teams in the abbl are mainstays while the rest of the teams are rotated between div2 and abbl.

In hindsight if I knew better, next time I make the abbl, I would sell my entire team, keep 3 trainees to train the whole season and save ton of money, The number one draft pick would be the icing on the cake. That would be the best course of action for newly promoted abbl teams given the history and circumstances of the abbl.

But then again I would prolly be bored tanking and lose interest in the game entirely if I did that.

I don't mean any disrespect to anyone who promotes and demotes straight away. In being real I have pretty much accepted that's the best I can hope for as I am dead against tanking and would rather play the game as it was designed to be played... If every manager was destined for the ABBL they would make it big enough for a few hundred teams. The reality is the best managers have a stranglehold on it and the best of the rest go up and down between the two... But even though there is no shame in it, promoting and demoting straight away is still considered as failure...

I personally failed the first time I was in div2 but I learned from it and come back strong enough that I might even make the playoffs in a much stronger league in my first season back (ironically thanks to a tanker). If I focused on my injuries that led to my demotion I would probably bounce between the 2 leagues, but instead i focused on what i did wrong and set out to improve on it.

My issue with him is that his team peaked and won him a div2 title, then demoted and is left with an aging roster that is getting him nowhere, yet he still believes he is better than any manager in div2 and that we are all out to beat him and every subject we speak about must be about him. If you go back through you will see where he genuinely felt victimised because he didn't get HCA and that we purposely targeted him so he wouldn't be a threat. Reality is there are more active managers every season who have more access to different strategy whether it be building a list or managing their gameshape or even general tactics. His thinks he is a top level manager when really his ego is forcing him to fall behind...
