Match day #10 8/3/10
Red Terrors @ 1Derz Bangerz. This was an intense match down to the wire, with the Terrors missing the opportunity to win the game in the last 5 seconds. Bangerz 109-107. Delalic was forced to take a long three pointer as the clock ran down, but it was a bit out of his range. Xiong was asked what was going through his head as he defended the final play and said, “Just hands up, hands up, no foul, no foul, and of course please do not go in”.
San Diego Crusaders @ The Illusion. Crusaders couldn’t keep up at either ends of the court and The Illusion breezed through their 10th win in a row 103-76. Illusion took the match easy, but they were clearly dominant and are looking at their next match against the Crazys with a deadly glare.
E.C. High-Flyers @ Chicago Goats. The Goats had their defensive tactics all wrong, but a remarkable 3rd quarter effort had them back in the game until the 4th where the Flyers took over and claimed the match 81-73. Abbondanza played all 48 minutes and stood out in the 4th when everyone was getting tired he was there to lead his team to a great win.
Champaign @ No Potential. This wasn’t much a game for the home fans who got to witness their team get beat up yet again by another tough div III.4 team. Champaign took it easy but got to work picking apart “No Po” for a 115-77 victory.
Cleveland Crazys @ Indiana Gavno. Crazys didn’t want to risk a loss to the still undermanned Gavno side and put more effort into the match. Crazys 84-63. Phillip German was seen taunting Rivard after the game and was gloating about almost achieving a triple double. His coach reminded him that almost isn’t the real thing.
TDX Dutchmen @ Roxas City Red Claws. Another forfeit by the Claws gives Dutchmen a big boost in PD 122-29.
Tachenko @ Prov City Investors. Tachenko’s flexibility on offense helped them get quality attempts against PCI, but they weren’t so flexible on the other end. Carmona and his backcourt were able to score at will and the result was a high scoring thriller that ended Investors 122-113. One unusual stat for PCI which was a key to their victory was the 70 rebounds they were able to collect compared to Tachenko’s 46.
Marietta Magic @ Armageddons. Magic stuck to what works best for them and it proved once again successful. Armageddons took the match easy though, not expecting to compete with Magic’s big men. Marietta 87-63. Mario Mannu made a fool of himself after the game attempting to “jerk” (the dance) for the away crowd. He was thoroughly booed and laughed at, don’t expect him to try that again any time soon.
Nightly Notable
Gael Carmona of the Prov City Investors. He led his team in a great win against Tachenko with 45 pts, 12 rbs, 4 ast, 2 stl, and could have added more had he not fouled out with 10 minutes left in the game. This was a key game for PCI in their attempt to return to the playoffs even though it is early in the season.
