I definitely plan on staying with TIE with a few normals in must wins as my strategy. I just need to get 1-2 15kish players over the season so that I can get to the 6-9 win mark. It's the only strategy I have. I'm like the 2nd-3rd worst team in my conference. So the only hope I have is to use high enthusiasm to make up for my lack of talent.

Well, I'm out of the cup after 1 round so now I guess it's time to gun for that undefeated season and try to keep John's gameshape up.

That's really unlucky to get a DIII in your first cup game. But at least you seem poised to make a deep run in your league.

Yeah thats too bad Eminence. Luck-o the draw. I got a III last season, and had no shot to advance. This season, my luck's better. ;)

D.IV 12-after 1 week

1.The Droids 2-0-PR-2: With two easy looking TIE wins to start the season I'm not afraid to move my team into the target area as #1.

2.Xenia Chaos 2-0-PR-1:Also with a pair of easy wins, they lose top spot due to lack of enthusiasm management.

3.Bullseyes Bruisers 2-0-PR-4: Have looked impressive through 2.

4.Charlotte Cappers 2-0-PR-3: Have won with defense, lowest PA through 2 games.

5.ATL Bull 2-0-PR-8: The surprise of the 2-0 teams, can they keep it up?

6.Iowa Idiots 1-1-PR-7: Kept it close vs. new #1 Droids.

7.Blue Crew 1-1-PR-UR: Stayed close vs Cappers, rapidly improving.

8.Pinoy Henyos 1-1-PR-5: Strong start, ran into Bullseyes in Game 2.

9.suns4life 0-2-PR-6: Had the toughest start to season and it shows with a pair of losses against Pinoy and Xenia to start the season.

10.GR Venom 1-1-PR-9:Only win against one of the leagues lower teams, but it was on the road.

Great idea for a thread.

Player Salaries: $ 97 798 Attendance: $ 92 656
Staff Salaries: $ 58 960 Merchandise: $ 22 713
Scouting: $ 9 218 TV Contract: $ 66 802
Total: $ 165 976 Total: $ 182 171
League Average Net Income: $ 16 195

A couple of you are in leagues with my boys (yeah, I'm an old guy) . . . and we have been having a running discussion / argument about the toughest division. I absolutely believe I am in one of the toughest D.IV leagues in the US. If not THE toughest, without a doubt in the the top 5. We have an amazing amount of experience with our owners, we have consistently high salaries, more than half of the managers are very aware of tactics and changing up for opponents, etc. We added 4 D.V teams this season and received 1 team from D.III. -- additionally, we have 4 teams that are in the process of a complete reconstruction of their team (sold all / most of their stars) -- and we STILL have 9 teams of the top 710 in the US (including teams ranked 315, 348 and 390). I know that ranking doesn't mean as much as we would like (very similar to FIFA's 2 year running average), but considering there are 1360 teams in the top 4 leagues, we have a hefty number. But on top of that, we hardly ever have a team 'go bot' . . . I believe 2 in the last 3+ seasons. What that means is that of the 16 teams, usually 2 are extremely good, 3 or 4 struggle a bit after moving up, and then 10 teams or so need to battle it out for 6 playoff spots.

Crazy . . . but awesome!

Anyway, it is great to see a bunch of D.IVers loving the game.

D.IV 12 Through 3

Big 8
Xenia 101- Bullseyes 84: Xenia shows why they are the class of the big 8 with a big road win over another topend team.
Pinoy 91- ATL 105: Pinoy with another dissappointing loss, ATL is setting itself up in good position early on.
Firestorm 74- Suns4life 100: Suns get a much needed first win at home.
bostn 72- Twobit 92: Twobit picks up its first win at home.

Great 8
GTown 82- Cappers 110: Big home win for Cappers to stay unbeaten.
Iowa 95- Scarlet 96: Tough road loss for Iowa, could hurt their chances down the stretch. While Scarlet picks up a much needed first win.
Blue 99- Venom 101: Good home win for Venom in battle for positioning in the middle of the Great 8.
Wall Street 54- Droids 98: Droids continue to roll at home.

Upcoming Games To Watch
ATL@Xenia: 1vs2 matchup in the Big 8, will ATL continue to overachieve or will Xenia rise above?
Droids@Blue: Blue gets a big chance to impress at home vs the #1 team.
Cappers@Iowa: Iowa gets a chance to bounce back at home against one of the top teams.

I have to believe our Div IV is up there in the toughest. Last season a guy who spent 11 seasons in Div III couldn't win it all, or even make it to the semi's, and there team is no joke. We also have 7 within the top 710. It is also very active with our lague forum having 121 posts(121!), which is abnormally high for a div IV. The users that have played in this league for 5+ seasons can't catcha break with all the talented promotees(3 of them made the playoffs(me included:)) and 2 made the semi's), and, like I've already mentioned, the extreme talent the Div III teams bring down. This division also seems to have every team develop through training their prospects, and not buying their etire roster, so the teams get better as the season goes on, and then before the plyoffs start there are always 1-2 large buys, so then HCA means almost nothing. Not to mention there is two U-21 caliber players.

That is tough . . .

As a follow up, are you seeing any changes in your league because of the economic changes in the game over the past couple seasons? It is getting very difficult to turn a profit AND compete against D.III teams coming down. I am having a difficult time with training - because of salary issues. I have a couple inside guys who I would love to train to be more dominent inside players . . . but if I get their ID/IS/RB to prolific or above, their salaries pop to over $35K each.

Well I got a 21 y/o center with 45k salary, and if I continued to train ID/Reb/IS his salary would inflate to around 90k next season. Well that is bad, so this season I am getting some JS and 1v1 training in for him, so he becomes more versatile, and so his salary isn't deadly next season. I hope to make a run this season, but realistically I may be 1-2 seasons away.

The Div III relegee has a very high team salary. a 40k center, a 30k SG a 25k SF, so I'm curious how they are going to maintain it.
