To me, and only me I'm sure, but no Fight Club = fail.

After the first 2 matches I have to say I'm fairly happy with the bracket assembled.
Some big names were missed: Tombstone, Patton, Ben-hur, 2001:A Space Odyssey, and The Big Lebowski-but overall I feel like most choices were deserving and participation has been good.

Anyone who mentions "Hitch" as a movie that's even "great" loses all credibility.

Hitch is a mediocre movie that really has no staying power or any other claim to greatness.

What makes Hitch a movie in the same class as Shawshank Redemption, Empire Strikes Back, Lawrence of Arabia, American Beauty, Annie Hall, etc.?

Some of the other choices are laughable (The Notebook? Really? What are we, teenaged girls?), but Hitch is absolutely pathetic.

2005 alone had 20 movies better than Hitch (Sin City, Batman Begins, Walk the Line, Cinderella Man, Serenity, The World's Fastest Indian, Thank you for Smoking, Revenge of the Sith, Munich, Brokeback Mountain, Good Night and Good Luck, The Constant Gardener, A History of Violence, Capote, Green Street Hooligans, Transamerica, Hustle & Flow, The 40 Year Old Virgin, Tsotsi, Wedding Crashers)

That's just 2005...

WOW almighty all knowing amazing God type person! You seem to have the market cornered on whats okay to like in a movie, and what's not!

Hitch happens to be my favorite all time movie! Why? Because its hysterical, clever, and just fun! The more I watch it, the more I realize how clever it is. But mostly, its just fun! It makes me laugh, and makes me feel good. Shawshank Redemption? Great movie? Sure, tell an interesting story? Absolutely. Hardly makes me feel good, or relaxed. American Beauty? Really? A story of a middle aged man, falling for, and wanting to molest a child? That makes for a good movie? Since when does a movie of a conflicted man unsure about how his son is turning out, (fearing he is gay), so he goes to the same man he thinks his son is having a relationship and tries to experience the same thing! And another man, in a mizerable marriage chooses to throw judgement and decency out the window, and have sex with a child. Ohhhh and how does it all end? He kills himself!! Yes, my bad, great movie!!!

Not sure what your hatred of Hitch is...and if you hate it, thats cool...thats the wondeful thing about a zillion movies to choose from...there is something for all of us. And if you like sordid tales of perversion, then you can watch American Beauty over and over....I will be the guy over here laughing my butt off at one hysterical feel good scene after another. (Ohhh, and by the way, the 6 hot women in Hitch that I am drooling over and laughing at during the movie, are all women, legal, so I don't have to feel guilty about that either!)

Um, that's not how it ends. You should watch it again. Or at least re-type the second-to-last sentence to make the pronoun less confusing. Also, he never sleeps with the girl. Watch it again.

You seem awfully hung up on the underage chick part of that movie, which was a rather minor detail. If you want a truly sordid tale of perversion, watch The Human Centipede.
