The issue is that there are too many of them. Let them retire please!!!

I think the issue is not that they are too many, but that demand for them is too low.
For example, I can use a $300k salary center, but I don't want to buy one because their salaries a too high!

There lies the biggest problem with the economy. Since player salaries increase with attribute improvement exponentially, players with skills above 16/17 become economically inefficient. The difference is quality becomes too small compared to the difference in salary. Therefore, it is way more efficient to buy 2 150k players, than 1 300k monster.

These players sell for 5x their current prices at the trade deadline
I bought one such Center for over $500,000 2 weeks ago
got just over $100,000 back today.
And he had some extra skills including 10 JS and 10 OD.
Same as any economy, supply and demand.
Nobody wants to pay these salaries next week and so many hit the market before financial update.
In a few days, all promoting teams will come into some extra cash
and those still around will be in demand once more as teams try for later Cup rounds,
and playoff positions and games late in season 21

(9546084) 9k !

(4752399) 5k !

The 2nd guy, Tapia, is pretty awesome too. One of the top players in all of BB but his salary is enormous and he's almost 34 years old. He just put up a 19.5 rating over a full season. That's insane.

And since he was just purchases by a D5 team which will almost certainly bankrupt itself he'll be back on the market for $1 million in a couple of weeks. At age 34 he probably doesn't get bought for that price and quietly retires as Chile loses a NT player.

I think you're right, but I also think I'm right. I think it's both.

Very, very good post.
I like your analogy with million dollars houses.
It's been explained countless times but people just can't grasp it.

I am only D.III. I can afford to buy a 100k C. with a plan, I could even pay 10 times what they are going for. But I won't balance my budget.
I have seen teams with one of those in my league. They scrap 2 or 3 extra wins with them. But it's not efficient enough. They usually end up parting ways.
It looks a bargain but it's not, alone it won't get you promoted in many countries.
They are worth nothing to me. If I was offered one, I would refuse it.

Those players are for Top 2 leagues. And as those who need them already have them, this is what drives prices down. It's been explained countless times... There is no demand. It used to be part of BB 101, how to make cash and buy your way up the leagues. It's not anymore for close to 10 seasons, this was the middle ages of Buzzerbeater.
Stop living in the past boys, move on.

The current pricing system promotes renting players for short periods. Others may disagree but I would prefer that this strategy's effectiveness is reduced.

I don't see many of these rentals, they are bought for speculation mostly.

Anyway, rentals aren't new. Maybe players were more expensive to buy but we had more cash and players were easy to sell afterwards, sometimes with a benefit ! Remember prices were constantly rising. I don't know which is worse.

I don't see it as a bigger problem today.
The problem is more that it's too easy to tank and save cash to sustain a monstruous salary mass for a short time, like for 2 or 3 relegation games. This is tremendously efficient. I am cool and relaxed with gaming, I can lose but I'd really hate to lose a relegation fight against this kind of cheap "smart" tactics.
