Let's look at this a little more closely ...
...crushing the cheaters should include never letting BB be played from that same computer again. Making a new account will do the cheater no good in that case.
Granted that would not deter all cheating, but it would curb at least 80% of it.
You also need to consider that people have access to multiple computers and multiple physical addresses.
So they would need to block a second computer, maybe more, in another 10% of the cases.
Given the technology anyone can fake anything on the internet. THey can make it look like their one computer is 100 different computers in 100 different countries... Identifying where a sign in is coming from is extremely difficult if the person deliberately obscures themself.
And this level of sophistication applies to maybe 1-2% of the cheating in BB, if that.
These three categories alone account for an estimated 92% of BB cheating, with an additional 8% unspecified. So they can easily reduce cheating by around 90-98%, depending on what goes on in the unspecified category.
This game will be more realistic, fun, fair, legitimate etc. if they considered it an issue.
I wonder what their response would be if the players who don't cheat figured out that allowing cheating as they do amounts to a fraud against the people playing the game fairly, and the basis for a refund. Maybe stopping cheating would be taken a little more seriously.
