We had a double game last night, with Chua How Feng and Ang An Da playing 2 games in the space of 11 hours.
Sadly, we fell in both games. The scrimmage against Paraguay was a test to showcase our talents next year, while the game against Brazil was a World Championships Qualification match.
Chua How Feng performed admirably in both matches, finishing the first match with 28 points, 14 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 blocks and 2 steals. He followed that up with another double-double effort, posting 20 points, 15 rebounds and 3 blocks in the second game. His efforts saw him break 200 points of the season, and placed him at 8th place in the all-time scoring rankings with 433 points. He also finished the season with 165 rebounds, making it the 8th most rebounds in a U21 season. His U21 career tally is now at 354 rebounds, which is good for 2nd in the all-time charts. His excellent service for us throughout these 3 seasons also saw him make the all time appearance charts, standing tall at 6th place with 40 caps.
Ang An Da joined him in making history for our U21 as well. Midway through this season, I could feel our "Point Guard Pedigree" flow in him, showing shades of Abdul Chaudri, Ho Yun Leng, and Wan Tong Lai. He certainly did not disappoint. After posting a 25 point 13 assist double-double against Paraguay U21, he posted 12 points, 8 assists and 5 rebounds against Brazil U21. This put him at 231 points for the season, leading our team and good for the 10th most points in a U21 season. He also managed 93 assists this season, the 4th most amount scored in a U21 season.
Meanwhile, Tay Shun Shiong once again showed that he won't be overshadowed by our two key players, as he burst out for 24 points on 54% shooting. It was a foul fest for him and his opposing number, with him hitting all 10 of his free throws, but getting fouled out in the 4th. Regardless, he certainly handled the physicality well.
This season was a real historical season. This was the closest we've come to qualifying to the World Championships in the past 23 seasons. The last time we came this close was in season 37, where we played in the Repechage tournament. Hopefully, one day we shall compete with the the best in the world in the World Championships.
