"Consolation Tournament National teams that do not qualify for the World Championships will enter the Consolation Tournament. The Consolation Tournament will consist of two phases, the round-robin phase and the knockout phase. In the round-robin phase, each team will play 8 games. Those teams that are eliminated during 2nd Chance Qualifying will be given an 0-2 record to start the Consolation Tournament, and will play a total of 6 games. The top 32 teams after 8 games will be seeded into a single-elimination knockout tournament. The team that advances the furthest from each confederation will host the next continental competition. In the event of multiple teams from the same confederation being knocked out in the same round, and being the final teams from that confederation alive, the highest seeded team will host the next continental competition. If no teams from a confederation reach the knockout phase, the team with the highest standing in the round-robin phase will host the next continental competition."

Time for another update for our very own Pilipinas U21 Team.

Last week Pilipinas U21 faced Tounes U21 for the last game of the Repechage Round. This game have no bearing since both teams were already out of run for the 2nd chance qualifiers.

Result:

Pilipinas U21 99
Tounes U21 82

Tounes crunched the game and made the score close during the 1st half. Bannered by their best player Mohamed Bassir who came out hot and doing most of the damage by his sharp sniping from outside. Bassir had a game high 31 points. But Bassir's heroics were not enough as the young pinoys imposed their will especially in the decisive 3rd quarter run that put the game for good. The pinoys were led by the ever reliable Romeo "Imba" Indig who double-doubled for the Pinoys with his 19 points and 14 rebounds. Also notable was the play of Aemos Panganiban who shot 70% from the field for 15 points and hauled in 10 rebounds.

With the win, Pilipinas U21 finished the Repechage Round with 1-2 win-loss record - not enough to secure an entry to the World Championships.

We now go to the Consolation tournament, seeded at No. 61. Our first game will bes against Norway.

Our 1st game of the Consolation Tournament was against Norway.

Philippines U21 81

Playing without Strongman Romeo "Imba" Indig, the young pinoys tried a different offensive tactic hoping to neutralize the effect of Indig's absence. Aemos "Baby Face" Panganiban stepped up for Pinoys and single-handedly carried the scoring cudgels for our Junior Team. Baby Face had a game high 33 points on a monstrous 15-24 shooting clip. He hauled in 12 rebounds and swatted 4 blocks. Norway was bannered by their star PG Kalle Stavland who scored 27 points on a losing effort. It was a good win for the pinoys who had an awful night at the 3-point area shooting only 2-22 from beyond the arc for a measly 9%.

Up next is scotland(2-1 standing in the Consolation Tournament).

medyo malabo, pero sana manalo naman tayo sa consolation tournament para naman makapaghost tayo sa susunod na season... di pa yata tayo nakapaghost kahit minsan di ba... mapa NT or U21... malaking achievement na din sa atin ang manalo sa consolation tournament...

Hopefully maipanalo natin. Scotland kaya natin. May 5 players sila sa Line-up na less than 10k. Watch out nalang sa surprises. Baka magcall-up ng mga mas malalakas na players. Yan kung meron man..
